What is worse on a vehicle 50,000 in a year or if you did that over a longer time like 5 years? Or is 50,000 just 50,000?

maintenance my bro. That’s the most important. Over the years though I’ve learned that Tacomas prefer to be driven. They don’t like to sit.

50k in one year is better, many owners forget to do maintenance over five years

Holding everything else constant (IE maintenance, fuel, road/weather conditions) I would propose that 50k in one year is worse. To achieve that, the vehicle has to be moving a lot all the time. No time to cool down

How much worse....hard to say if any really tho

Plug both into the KBB site and see which has the lower trade/sale value.

No vehicle likes to sit! I just was reading about one guy today that put a million miles on his tundra in 8 years, so 125,000 a year. That's a lot of driving!

    Stock and staying that way
The wear from 50k miles will be the same, but the extra 4 years will have its own damage. I'd say 5 years is worse than 1.

    This.

Running steady state looping the US on the interstate is the easiest miles ever. Operational temps constant, not much braking, etc.

10k a year as a NY taxi on the other hand.............

    ...stuff
I know it’s possible... but it’s not easy to hit 50k in a year. My ambulance that is driven all day every day only hits about 25k a year.

My wife puts more than 40,000 a year on her car, and it actually sits at work in the parking lot quite a bit. After 4 years and more than 170,000 miles however, it still looked like a 4 year old car, regardless of the miles.

Agreed. Over time there is fatigue and dry rot etc. that sets in, even things like thermostats and radiator that might fail and cause problems. So, 50k over 5 years might see more failures, but it will not be because of mileage. Bottom line, 50k is 50k. In itself it won't make a difference directly.

30K a year for me. One percent off road. That's still 300 miles or so!

50,000 in one year destroys resale so I think we have a winner.

I’ve done it at work, making a 200+ mileage loop every work day operating remediation system. And that’s going through 2 counties.....

I totally disagree, usually 50k miles in a year are highway miles which are the easiest on a vehicle.

The worst is stop and go city driving and short commutes where the engine doesn’t get to full operating temp.

There’s an incredible amount of wear on the engine at start up. That’s why it’s best to immediately start driving after you start it up. Idling dilutes the oil with gas.

That's not really advisable in the winter.
