    I am beyond mad!

Nephew and wife bought a new, used jeep Cherokee.

Asked if they could bring it over and oil change and lube the thing.

I put it up on the hoist, look for grease zerks and mention that I didn't know this was a 2 wheel drive truck. Both nephew and his wife say, no, it's all wheel drive. I told them there are no CV joints or front axle. It's rear wheel drive only. Both tell me the sales men told them it was all wheel drive.

No wonder they got the thing so cheap.

I get it, them not knowing 2 from 4 wheel drive. They are not 4x4 savvy. I don't get a salesman from a well known dealership selling a truck under complete false pretenses. Or at least not doing basic research on the vehicle.

I don't think there is any legal recourse on this deal. They bought a decent truck at a good price.

I'm just glad I discovered this before the winter weather hits us. They got 2 little ones to cart around.

They will be fine with 2 wheel drive, just will have to think ahead before they head out.

Sorry about venting. I'm done now.

Maybe your state has a contract cancellation period, where the vehicle could be returned?

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Well I'd go back and return the thing. If the dealer doesn't like that idea I'd make a call and file a complaint with your state attorney general; maybe that will get their attention. Don't get mad; get even

Based on my dealings with car salesmen I'd say the odds are about 50/50 that the salesman didn't know the difference either.

Not cool. Return the truck/Jeep. It was falsely advertised. Sold under false pretenses.

It's not really my problem. I just found the discrepancy. It's up to the nephew and his wife.

The father in law is a police officer, maybe he will have something to offer.

It just blows my mind something like this can happen.

I've seen the truck 3 times in the last 3 months, I never gave it a thought that it wasn't 4x4.

I wonder how many other people are driving around in a 2 wheel drive rig thinking it's a 4x4?

    I could believe a salesmen not knowing it wasn't a true 4x4.

Used car salesmans are a rag tag bunch, I wouldn't be surprised if they saw the jeep logo and assumed all jeep are 4x4 or awd.
I bought a used g37x, the salesman didn't know it was awd until I told him.
Perhaps they might have some type of recourse in civil court if it was advertised or listed on paperwork as 4x4 or awd.

That's about what I was thinking.

Obviously, it affects me non, but I am pissed that a new family would get such bad treatment on their first nice, new car purchase.

Maybe i'm a little hurt that they didn't come to me for some 4 x 4 vehicle advice. My wife and I are the only "wheeler heads" in the family.

What about the paperwork? If it is printed anywhere in the sales documentation that it is in fact 4x4....i wouldnt see why they could not return it.

I would love to see the paperwork. They live 30 miles away.

I only asked because I thought that the newer Cherokees with AWD were front wheel until they slip. Usually the 2WD version of AWD vehicles are FWD. Not sure about any of this though. My only experience with the newer Cherokee was a 16 model year that we rented on vacation this past summer.

I know this was not a front wheel drive jeep. Rear wheel drive only.

I don't know about the latest design.

These people need to have representation when buying their next vehicle. Half of all used car salesmen are idiots and the other half are crooks. You gotta know what you are talking about, or have representation that does.
