Last summer while on a trail in low 4wd, a stick somehow disconnected a quick connect going to my actuator or front diff (the guy who found it and fixed it was not specific at all). Now my 4WD light always blinks while in 2wd, but works how it is supposed to while in 4wd and in low 4. Everything works how it is supposed to other than the light. Thought about taking it to Toyota, but afraid they'll charge me a ton for nothing. And again, it changes into 4WD and 4 low flawlessly, the light just wont quit blinking while I'm in 2wd. Anyone have any ideas? Its starting to annoy the crap out of me.

The blinking generally means the truck is still in 4wd. I would check the connectors to ensure they are properly engaged and that there are no broken wires.

The Blinking means it is Not Engaged in 4 Wheel Drive.

Mine blinks when I turn the switch from 4wd until it disengages. Maybe yours works differently.

It goes in and out of 4wd fine, just when it disengages the light stays blinking. Ill check the wires and connections again though. I dont want to Toyota will say it's because of my diff lock mod I'm sure so that's why I haven't taken it to them.

do you you turn your diff lock mod off before turning out of 4wd. That will cause the issue.

yea I've checked that too. Also checked the mod itself and everything is how it is supposed to be.

I wish I knew how to upload a video. It would be much easier to see. When I go into 4wd the light goes solid, when I go to 4 low it doesn't blink (like it's trying to engage/disengage) just goes solid but everything works fine. When I go take it out of 4wd it just blinks(and hasn't quit since) but it does disengage

4low is a seperate light that actually says "4LO". The 4wd light that blinks when going into 4hi will stay solid, then the 4LO light will blink when its going into 4LO until its engaged

The 4 low light does come on like it normally would. I'm gonna crawl under there again and see if i missed anything from last time.

It's a part integral to the actuator so there's really no repair other than buying a new actuator, they're around $300

I guess I'm living with the blinking then. I won't hurt anything like this will it? its been doing this 6 months now (wheeling and all) and everything has been fine.

Eventually it will give up the ghost and you'll either be stuck in 4wd or 2wd

Did you ever get this figured out? I have had an identical issue on my 2007 Taco for at least 5 years. Four-wheel drive works flawlessly but the light continuously flashes when in 2wd.

Am looking to sell my truck and would like to fix all my dashboard fireworks before I do.

Never did. Still blinks. Might have to take a trip to the stealership.
