Living the 5' bed/auto life for the past 3 years with my '21 has me realizing that I want/need a 6', but I also really miss rowing my own gears. I'm pretty much dead set on the 4th Gen for my next vehicle since none of the other mid-sizers even offer a 6' bed any longer, but coupling that with a manual would be a dream come true.

Obviously the 6' bed was not offered with a manual in the 3g, so my optimism level for it appearing on the 4th Gen is low, but I'm still holding out hope that maybe, just maybe Toyota will decide to offer this.

Any thoughts on why Toyota wouldn't offer this option when the only difference going from a 5' bed manual to a 6' bed manual would be a longer driveshaft?? For such a simple part, why not offer this??

If it was a highly sought after sku, they would offer it.

There is/was an AC 6' 6MT configuration in 2023 build. And about two vehicles nationwide per CarGurus.

It's a shame the double cab long bed is not offered with a manual. Since double cab started as an option back in 2005 it has never been something that Toyota has built. I always get one guy on these forums who says "but my brother-in-law's cousin's sister's husband had one!". No, Toyota has never paired a manual with a DCLB config. Maybe somewhere someone has made one in a custom shop but it was never offered by the manufacturer.

The AC MT OR is available in Canada and sells decently well.

Not true, you can still get a 6' bed in the new Frontier, just FYI. But no manual.

I’m with you. Really torn between a 6ft bed and getting a manual!

Its amazing they offer it, but it looks like its a special order. Takes bargain buying off the table.

No such thing as an "order" with Toyota. They make (or made?) few vehicles in this configuration because sales are low. The few that get made will typically be shipped to dealers with a good track record for selling them. Sometimes a dealer may request a "trade" with another dealership and get one allocated to them, but that involves a salesman doing extra work. Not an "order."

I removed those annoying stickers on the sun visor.
This is one of the few things I don't like about Tacomas. I had the access cab with the 6 foot bed for my first gen, and loved it.

I'm not willing to give up the manual transmission, so I decided to sacrifice the 6 foot bed for the double cab on my second gen, but I would have bought the double cab with the 6 foot bed in a heartbeat, if it was available with a manual transmission.

Two months with this truck, and I really miss the longer bed.

The configurator for '23 allows a TRD Sport AC 6MT. Finding one is a different story, especially at this point of the 3rd gen life cycle.

I just wanted an 4x2 SR or SR5 access cab with a 6MT - which of course doesn't exist anymore.

    *sigh*

To each their own but the logic I use is that I use the manual transmission everyday, I don't use the truck bed everyday.

    all tore up already
The 6 foot bed manual has been available in 3rd gen, I have 100k on my 2016. Those were my two requirements. They dont make 3g DCLB in manual if that's what you ment.

No, but I like to sleep in the truck bed when I go camping, or on road trips. At 6' even, I had to sleep diagonally with the 6' bed. With the 5' bed, I have to sleep with the tailgate open, which means I can't just put the topper up if it starts to rain.

It's an unfortunate compromise either way. It just doesn't make sense that Toyota doesn't offer the option.

If you go to link, scroll down to grades, it shows the SR as available with 6 speed manual, in either double (5ft bed) or extra cab (6ft bed). I had always owned his configuration (manual, extra cab, 6ft bed) of a Tacoma and have told Toyota in surveys that they need to make it again. I currently own a 2021 4runner with rear seats removed which gives me 6 ft of space behind front seats, but do miss a manual trans.

That graphic on the website only gives overall options. That does not mean that those options will be available in combination with one another. I hope you are right, but I doubt the 4th gen MT will be available in a 6 foot bed.

The Xtra Cab, which is only available with a 6' bed, might be available in a manual. Can't order it from dealers yet, because production isn't slated to begin until mid next year.

It's interesting we're still talking about manuals when the combustion engine is going away in 7 years in some jurisdictions. Hyundai has stopped R&D on combustion engines.

Only the hybrid is mid next year, everything else is this year.

^Source? I recall reading the Xtra Cab will be available later in 2024.

The leaked Canadian ordering guide omits both hybrid and Xtra Cab models.

I haven't seen anything regarding XCab however. I would think since they are just turbo they will be sooner? ish?
