Hi all. Have a 2011 Tacoma TRD Sport and just not happy with the front seats. I have searched but there isn't much on the swap for 4runner front seats. I found a set of 2018 front 4runner seat fairly cheap. My question is... from what I understand, 3 of the 4 bolt holes line up. Have to mod the fourth seat bracket. Has anyone done this yet? Im ready to jump on this as I hate the feel of the factory seats even with the 1" spacer mod. Just don't have access to a welder.

where do you have the 1in spacers, front or back of the seat?

I just popped 1in spacers in the BACK of the seat to flatten the base and its SOOOO much better.

I have the sport bucket seats with spacer in the back. Front would have me starring at the roof haha!

Also considering swapping out for cloth non-sport seats. Sport seats are firm and I don't like the high sides.

Curious as well. I have a ‘14 Sport and tried the 1” spacers in the back. Unfortunately, I am too tall, and the spacers really killed my view out of the windshield. Plus they didn’t really help with comfort for me. I don’t hate my seats, but they could definitely use improvement.

Did you try them on front by chance? I'm tall too and I was wondering if I'm wasting my money.

As long as the passenger seat utilizes a pressure mechanism to turn on passenger airbag you should be good. I put FRS seats in mine and had to buy an adapter to get the passenger airbag to function.

The only other annoying thing to work out is the driver side seat rail position sensor but the 4runner should have that as well.

I didn't know my truck had them considering the are manual adjusting seats. I thought they only had a ground wire for the seat belt??

I can only speak for my 2013, however I assume your 2011 is the same if it’s an access or double cab, but the passenger seat has a pressure sensor that turns on passenger airbag, and the driver side has a seat rail position sensor for determining how close you are to the steering wheel (something about airbag deployment speed/force or something along those lines).

Some Toyota models for whatever reason utilize an electrical current type setup to detect a passenger in the passenger seat such as the FRS seats I put in, which is why I had to use an adapter. I would hazard a guess and say 4runner uses conventional pressure sensors but I’ve never looked under a 5th gen 4Runner seat.

Additionally of course you have airbag plugs for each seat’s side airbag. The FRS seats I put in had a airbag plug that was slightly different so I had to swap out the plugs from my 2013 seats to the FRS seats, and after that they plugged right in and I didn’t have any airbag lights trip.

Only the back. The front would require something different.

Thank you for the info... the truth is still fairly new to me (2 month) I'm learning a lot already. Im pretty sure I can do the swap if I can get the seats under $500.

I saw a guy in here that made brackets for the fronts. I can't remember if he was selling them or not. I trying to find the tread.

    Some
Sub'd for out come. Anyone know if the tracks off the tacoma can be bolted to the 4runner seats? Seems like an easier way of swapping.

Very curious about this as well. Was looking at Katzkins but if I can find a deal on some leather 4Runner seats I wonder how tough this swap would be?

Why aren't you happy with them?

I was looking to swap out seats last year as well, but then found that taking them to a good upholster shop can really improve the seat for a lot less money. Seats are expensive.

I know I’m digging up an older thread, but honestly if you can find front seats out of a 3rd Gen Ram 1500 (2002-2009) and swap brackets (custom fab) they fit perfectly. The seats themselves are very close in dimension. Once you swap the Ram bracket for the Tacoma bracket, it completely changes the truck. I bought a full leather swap for $400 off my brother that bought a donor for the bed and some other parts he was swapping over. And a shitty set of non automatic seats from the same year ram. Swapped the leather skins and cushioning over to the frame of the manual ram seats and everything else fell into place. I removed the leather from the rear seat of the Ram and had it custom upholstered to fit my Tacoma rear seat. It’s amazing. IT WAS A LOT OF WORK! But worth it. All the swapping over of both Ram seats were done in a weekend, the following weekend the brackets were swapped and seats installed. I even wired up the seat heaters for the seats.
