I just went 400 on my stock dbl prerunner with only an AFE airfilter and the second filter removed.
Tires are stock. I feel this is where most guys lose milage. Than and raising up the rig pushes more air as well.
Yes your foot makes a big difference as we know. Letting off early and coasting a bit when you are approaching a stop helps a lot.

I agree running it low on fuel is not a great idea. Just keep track of mpg when you fill it and keep it at least 1/4 full.

I have hit 23 so far mixed hiway and city.
Not bad for a heavy brick.

I get around 22.5 mpg in town, 2009 v6 access cab. Keep it below 2k rpm and let the race cars go around.

First fuel up (~1/2 tank) on our new to us double cab - 20.57 mpg :D. This is suburban driving with some stop and go mixed in. And that's driving like a little old lady. Probably annoy the hell out of folks behind me, but going faster just gets you to the next stop light sooner. So I keep it in the right lane and let them get past me.

The 5 speed auto seems pretty aggressive about up shifting. Even accelerating it's shifting well below 2K. 'Course I'm used to other things like my bike (keep it over 3K) and Miata (keep it over 2K.)

That's also running 10% ETOH which is all that we have in Illinois.

Next tank I'll find out how much I sacrifice by driving a little more aggressively. :D

The 4WDs get about 1.5mpg less than PreRunners on average. Getting 20mpg in a prerunner shouldn't be very hard to do.
i finally got exactly 20mpg driving to Florida doing about 75-80 and A/C on. Driving home I got 18.5. windows down half of trip. Mythbusters are Wrong Bitch!
i average 315-330 miles to get a fuel light.

Has Anyone noticed that the 09s and 10s get better mpg according to the sticker?

I have seen so many people talk about this..but it seems like an old wives tale or something. I have never heard of anyone burning out a fuel pump except people who don't have an appropriately sized fuel system for their setup.

My previous car was a turbo Honda accord w/ 450cc injectors and a walbro 255 fuel pump. I always ran the tank down to fumes put over 50k miles on the car before I got rid of it and never had a problem with the fuel pump.

With a stock truck I highly doubt its going to cause any problems. That fuel pump is probably running at 60% efficiency at WOT.

hmmm, I routinely get about 360 per tank when light comes on. My mpg tracker has me at around 20mpg per tank w/ mixed driving

You maybe right, but fuel pumps are expensive (I've sold many), so I would rather keep mine submerged just in case. I usually fill up at 1/4 tank, but I would be lying if I said I have never had the light come on.

I am triing for the 400 club to in my v6. My idea which I have been documenting is not rev'ing past 2000rpm and triing to keep them about 1500 rpm. It is really easy for me because my commute to work is on roads at don't exceed 40 mph and in the morning i am like the only one on the road so I hit all green lights and after work I am in traffic so it is close to hitting all reds and I just go slow and let everyone pass me.. Lol. Some people get mad. Actaully kind of Funny to see people's face as they pass me

Most gas stations in America now use 10% ethenol in their fuel. It is supposed to be harmless. :notsure: To run E85 fuel (85% ethenol), you have to have special fuel pumps, injectors rails, and other devices to make it work safely.

I have not heard of one, but the savings you get in the price of E85 will be lost in lower gas mileage. I wouldn't bother switching over if I were you. JMO.
