I've banged through these forums and cannot get a simple answer. I've read there is some grinding on the rear axle involved; no biggie (is this only for certain models?)

Then someone mentioned front bearing cap cover clearance issues?

I cant see why there would be an issue.

The very latest version of the 4Runner wheels have fitment issues. The previous version do not.

Unfortunately the TRD4R SEMA wheels, the 2021+ TRD4R Pro wheels, and the different Tacoma Pro wheels all get interchanged on this forum.

Sometimes people don't realize which wheels came from which vehicle and that they are different sizes (16\17) and offsets. Trust but verify advice given.

PTR20-35111-BK Is the older version of that rim that fits without any issues. The part number you listed is the newer version and I believe people have had issues fitting that on the hub of the tacomas. I have the older version in both black and bronze and both fit perfectly.

You'd have to really, really like the most current 17" 4Runner Pro wheels over other options to install them on a 3rd Gen Tacoma given the grinding/machining required to make them fit.

I have the older version of this part number in matte grey and they fit no problem.

Yes, machining may be needed for the 2021+ 4Runner TRD Pro wheels. I believe it is only needed for the rear hubs. If you do not machine the bore, the wheels will not sit perfectly flush. However, there is one person that said they did not need to do anything for it to sit flush. 20210413_154059 (1).jpg

Or you can use a thin spacer like 2mm.

So, YES I do think the new ones are what I want. I had the older model on my 2012, loved the, just want something updated and new. A little grind on the rear doesn't bother me; as long as the front is flush without grinding.

What or where would you install the 2mm spacer?
