    Happy Friday everyone! I’m in the middle of a clutch job and wanted to double check torque specs before zipping everything back up. My truck is a 2004 2.7l.

    Fly wheel: 19ft lbs + 90*
    Pressure plate: 14ft lbs
    Trans to engine bolts: 53ft lbs
    Access cover bolts: 27ft lbs
    Front and rear drive shaft bolts: 65ft lbs
    Carrier bearing bolts: 27ft lbs
    Trans crossmember to frame bolts: 30ft lbs
    Trans crossmember to trans mount bolts: 14ft lbs
    Starter bolts: 29ft lbs

    Also reminder to check your shifter bushing seats, mine were completely gone in both the trans an tcase :burnrubber: Shift fork was toast too

    Some of those values looked low (ex: Trans crossmember to trans mount bolts: 14ft lbs), so I opened a 2003 FSM I have.

    Here is the diagram and the Ft/Lbs is the last number in each text box:

    Cant believe that fork is still functional like that. Damn.

    As for the torque specs be aware there are some known misprints in the fsms, sometimes it's best to take the Newton meter value and convert it to verify the foot pound value is the same.

    One notable example is on the second gen tacomas the FSM says to torque the rear leaf spring u-bolt nuts to 37 foot pounds, but if you actually convert the Newton meters into foot pounds it gives you a torque value of 73ft-lbs which is much more appropriate for an M14 fine thread nut.
