Does this look normal? There are 4 holes, but I only see fuel coming out of the holes on the outside. I'm spraying cleaner thru them and pulsing the injector continuously to see the pattern. I can't get the truck to run is the reason I'm doing this. All four injectors act the same way.

    Would send to Motorwest
    $100 (if 2rz/3rz)
    4-5 day turnaround

Thanks ControlCar, I found this setup on you tube from the "Rachets and Wrenches" dude. It wasn't my idea. The fuel injector is "continuously pulsed" from a tool I purchased on Amazon for $30 as I spray carb cleaner throught it. I'm just curious why nothing is coming through the center holes on the injector.

Also, ohming them out, I'm getting 12.8, 12.8, 12,8 and 13.0. I think the FSM says 13.4 ohm - 14.2 ohms. I'm beginning to wonder if these injectors are the culprit of the truck not running.

Yeah that's normal for the early injectors. They just spray down the two intake runners on the 8-port intake

I noticed in the factory service manual that it specifies two ohm ranges? By one of the specs (12-16), these injectors are ok, but not according to the other (13.4-14.2). I know I probably should send them off, just trying to save money if they are ok.

    Injector - 1 = 12.6 ohms
    Injector - 2 = 12.8 ohms
    Injector - 3 = 12.7 ohms
    Injector - 4 = 13.0 ohms

That's fine, when they fail they go high resistance or open. That's about perfect. Common "high impedance" injectors are in the 12-14 range and those are and amtheyre all very close to each other

Thanks Speedy,..before I installed them back into the head, I wanted to have some assurance they were ok. This completes my fuel system diagnosis. Seems everything is ok on fuel side now.

Just dying to find out why this truck won’t start. Guess I’ll try to replace the coil & igniter for a hotter spark.

Unsure on 92 4cyl but just in case….
Make sure to inspect the black injector cups
    that injectors seat into

If brittle and cracked, could let in un-monitored air and cause issues

mine were marble hard…didn’t see any obvious cracks……but seasoned members convinced me to RR I cups while I was in there

The coil is only part of the story.....
as the injector ages....it can start to leak

and a fuel leak is much more corrosive to the top of a hot piston than water

with the twin holes they are way less likely to clog like the later denso ones 2000 and later
    but internals wears the same

earlier oem twin hole ones were made by Matsushita Electric

    s-l1600.jpg

Later taco's with the 'pinkys' should run injector cleaner regularly
