Hey, so have a 2-3 inch lift on my truck as well as a diff drop. CV boots tore last year so had them replaced with OEM boots. Those tore shortly after so I had them replaced with high angle CV boots from Off road solutions (these ones https://www.offroadsolutions.com/products/high-angle-inner-cv-boot/). Just crawled under my truck to see that one of the high angle boots tore AGAIN.

Tired of replacing CV boots, what should I do for a more permanent solution? Think I can get these warrantied as I just had them replaced this past summer?

^The site says no warranty :notsure:

Have you done the boot slide mod? Make sure the boot fins aren't touching at ride height. I'm lifted 2.7", and the boot slide mod kept the OEM boots intact for 2 years before I upgraded.

    Is it 2" or 3"?

2" is typically the recommended max. If you're at 3", lower it some.

    Diff drop is useless.

    Let's see that angle.

you've gotta be sitting at 3" if the boots are rubbing themselves apart. The high angle boot thing is snake oil, if the boots rub they will tear no matter what they're made out of. Lower the lift height until they don't rub while driving anymore

    What's the boot slide mod?

It's 3". I have the toltec coils with bilstein 5125

I know, I may just drive as is for now. So annoying.

Yeah, I should have been more clear, it's a 3" lift. Toytcec coils with bilstein 5125. The toytec coils have 4 settings and I think I can go lower by at least 2 notches. But I do like the look of the height right now.

trust me it's not worth the headache of trying to maintain 3" lol. I think I got mine down to a little over 2" and I finally wasn't replacing axles every 6 months or less. Totally worth it

2WD trucks don't have CV axles on them...therefore no boots.

Do the boot slide mod; search it. I'm on 5 years with mine, and I have 3.14159265359" of lift.

Stretch just enough that the fins don't touch. Very effective solution for the cost of two stainless hose clamps.

yeah that makes sense. because I'm looking at mine now and the guy who I had install them previously put them way too close together and all the fins are scrunched up and touching

There's a groove on the shaft that the boot is supposed to sit in. When you slide the boot out, you have to cinch down with the hose clamp to prevent the boot from migrating back, since it no longer has a groove to sit in.

Just noticed my boots are starting to develop small tears in them, so I'm ordering reboot kits right now from McGeorge Toyota. Can you do the boot slide with the axles on the workbench as you do a reboot, or do you need to install them back in the truck first, then slide the boot based upon the angle (after installation). I'm assuming the latter, but seems it'd be much easier with the axles out of the truck (if possible).

^I did mine in-situ in 15 minutes lying on the ground in my driveway: https://www.tacomaworld.com/posts/20866194 If you're pulling a CV axle from the truck, this bit of extra work is trivial. On a bench, you can pull the boot past the groove and loosely put the hose clamp on. Set the final length cinch down on the hose clamp in-situ with the truck at ride height.
