So I own a 2018 Tacoma Offroad and I want to haul my 400lb motorcycle. I have a short bed, so the rear half of the bike will rest completely on the tailgate.

The rear half of the bike weighs about 200lbs. I don't want to snap the support cables so I'm looking for some sort of aftermarket supports.

I found a support bar system for other trucks which I linked below. Does anyone know if something similar exists for Tacomas?

I not worried about it while its stationary. But the weight bouncing on the gate if I hit a bump or something is worrisome.

Also, when loading the bike, there would be around 600 pounds on the gate for a brief period of time.

The cables won’t snap but you might need a tailgate reinforcement plate.

It will be fine. I had my klr in the bed of my short bed 17 taco. I drove from Central Texas to Southwest Colorado with the bike in the bed, drove up lobo overlook with the bike in the bed and drove back to Central Texas with the bike in the bed. I only added d rings to the bed bolts, that was the only modification to the truck I did.

You will never have both wheels on the gate at the same time. Even if you did it will still hold.
Hitting bumps, if the bike is tied down, won't double the weight.
Actually, now that I think about it, the CG of the bike in the bed will be forward of the tailgate so when travelling, you will have less than 300 lb on the gate.
Go get a bathroom scale and drive the back wheel up on the scale.

And there is usually a 2-3 times safety factor built into cables so I would venture to say that each cable could easily hold 750-1000 lbs each..
