cool thanks, i have seen the other vid's and always wondered about the part that falls out, no detail on the other vid's.
someone barley crunched mine hardly noticeable but they actually left a note so i worked out a deal they purchased the part from the dealer and i picked it up. it has been in the box for almost a year mainly because the spot that got hit is not noticeable. now someday i can change it with your help. i am waiting for it to get crunched again before i install the new one,lol
    thanks

Yah, that part is a pain. It would be much easier if the whole bumper was removed.

Great video! Where did you find a painted bumper cap? I was under the impression that they come UN-painted from Toyota.

Great, basic video. This method actually looks the easiest.
I've seen guys hanging that gator clip from a piece of tape.
Thank you... gonna get rid of my chrome ends this weekend.

It seems like the 22 & 23 have some extra clips. Having trouble removing the black top bumper. It looks like there are more holding it down than those two clips in the video.

There are a lot more. I just released those two to make the room I needed to slide out the cap.

I’m having the same issue on my 21. There’s some clips on the back side as well, but even freeing these doesn’t free the black piece. I managed to get my bumper caps off, but there’s no way in hell I can get the new ones on. Anyone?

When doing this on my 2023 there are an additional 2 clips that hold the black plastic step plate on opposite of the ones shown in the video. They are inaccessible to release as they are behind the plastic end caps. I pull and pray with a bit of force and luckily didn't break any of the clips.

Did you figure it out? I tried a few weeks ago and had no luck on my '21. Been driving around without an end cap which kinda pisses me off. It's about time I give it another shot, but I'd appreciate any pointers. I've had an easier time dropping transmissions than getting this dang thing to come off. I'm upset that Toyota is using BS plastic retaining clips in lieu of traditional fasteners to save 5 cents.

With the old end caps removed you should now have access to the 2 additional step plate clips that I referenced above. Best of luck

Oh shoot, I had skimmed over that thinking I was looking at some of the other clips I've already released. Thanks.
Once you get the new end caps back on, it's not hard to re-engage these clips?

You just push down to reclip. I still have the old bumper so I’ll take a picture and see if it’s different on the 2016.

Either way is looks like a follow up video is in order.
