I have a Skar 10” shallow mount subwoofer I want to build a sealed box to go behind the rear drivers seat (4D DC). I see ********* makes one, but $180….no way I’m paying that for a mdf box. Does anyone have plans for building one already made or the dimensions of one I can copy? I’ve built many boxes in the past, this one is a little weird with the cutout needed on the back of the box. thanks!

google image search has a ton of similar variations-- it got me close enough for now to at least model for airspace until it warms up. it appears like any dimensioning from 2nd-gen and up will fit. everyone looks to agree to about 17-18.5" tall, 3-4" top depth, and 6.5-8" bottom depth.

i measured 32" across the passenger side removable cubby, which is just about the bare minimum for what i'm doing (1-10" w/ 1-10" passive radiator). the drivers side appears to be 17" according to supercrewsound, but at around 0.65cu ft, it's smaller for airspace than i'd prefer.

Yea I saw the ones from ********* are that price too. I plan on seeing what a local shop quotes me for everything before I go any further.

    *Edit
apparently this site doesn't like TT.

I have a Mr. Marv box, and spent a few hours in his garage. More than just a piece of audio equipment. Of course mine is sitting behind the seats while the subs are in boxes and the amp/amps as well b/c I'm bs'ing on TW instead of installing car audio.

I still kick myself for going with the JL Stealthbox over one of Mr. Marv's. Might have to do something about that...

I'd love to have a Mr Marv box and even inquired back in December. Prices are just too high. At this time, can't justify that dough on a box. I've done the kicker speaker upgrade on all 6 speakers previously. The comp10 isn't a very high end sub, but just looking for that extra kick to the whole upgrade. Not crazy high end overall. Crazy that box prices are more than what I spent on almost all the speakers combined.... can't justify it in my head. Either this ebay one above, or take a stab at building one myself

that should work fine. just add a little fiberglass insulation to drop the internal resonances against the walls, and it should do everything you need.

Interesting! Never thought of that. Sub box is coming in next week so maybe I'll update here when I'm done. Still have to get amp and wiring tho

the audio industry overall has tried to shift to Polyfil as a non-fiberglass replacement, but it's a synthetic polyester variation that doesn't handle the conversion process the same as real fiberglass insulation--any insulation in a sound environment dampens the air movement by converting the air movement to low level heat.

fiberglass is still nasty stuff to work with(you need gloves, a mask, and eye protection), but it works much more efficiently than anything else either, especially when using it in small quantities like a box like this.

I’m interested in buying a Stealthbox if you decide to sell.
