    Hey Gents,
I have a 3rd Gen 2020 Offroad with the factory wheels (tire size is 265/70/16, I think the wheel size is 16x7?). I just put new wheels/tires on. My neighbor has a 2001 SR5 4x4 with the same tire size (265/70/16). I want to know if my 2020 OEM wheels will fit on his 1st gen? Specifically looking for info on the stock wheel width and offset for the 1st gen SR5 4x4? I've done a little searching but didn't find a simple thread talking about stock wheel sizes / offsets for the 1st gens. Can someone point me in the right direction? I think I've found the width/offset info for the 3rd gens in doing my wheel research prior to my recent wheel upgrade...

    Thanks!
    Matt

6-lug wheels are very interchangeable across generations!

3rd gen wheels will fit on first gen trucks, BUT, they have slightly less backset, so likely you will have a slight rub on the frame at full lock, and there is very little room between the upper a arm and the tire. How much rub somewhat depends on the tires. I have two sets of 3rd gen wheels, with the same size tires, but one set is mud terrains, and do rub on the frame, second set with all season tires does not.

I put them on my '04 with stock suspension and had no fitment issues.

I think I saw Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires on his truck. Not too aggressive, so you're saying they might very well fit with out rubbing the frame... Great info guys, thank you so much for the quick replies!

Backspacing is a huge issue. They sit very close to the truck, tucked into the body.

I see a lot of posts claiming this and I measured mine with the OEM wheel/tire and 3Rrd gen wheel/tire and came up with 3/8" closer to the frame on each side or 3/4" narrower overall. There may be some wheel/tire combinations that sit closer but the overall stance difference looks negligible to me.
OEM steelies were stamped 16X7 JJ

If you run much in muddy conditions, you'll understand that tucked in isn't always a bad thing.

HMMM. Mine is only at full lock, and only with my mud-terrain Wranglers. All season/all terrains with less aggressive bite on the edge don't rub at all.

This is how it turned out. No rubbing side to side reported so far.

Just did this on my 98. I have a 2 inch level and 33's. I put on 1.25 inch wheel spacers and gave it a more aggressive stance

So if you have a flat tire can you use the stock 15” rim that fits under the bed when running a 17” or 16” rim? Or do you need to get a matching 17” , 16” rim and will either or those sizes fit in the stock tire location? Or do you just wing it?

No sir. 15” wheel won’t fit being these are 16”, also I have Tundra brakes and 15” won’t clear the calipers. A very kind 3rd gen member gave me his spare 16” steelie for free and I’ve been using that as a spare. It doesn’t fit under the truck so I have to modify the mounting brackets.

As long as the outside diameter of the spare is close to the same as the other tires and the wheel fits over your brakes you are good to go

I ran a 16" Steelie under the truck until I found these 17" Tundra wheels and now have a 17" steelie under there, although the little winch thingie that holds it up makes me wonder how secure it really is...
