I have this at home to stare at until I pull the trigger on wheels - shout out Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road for her help. Looking at installation in January. 4" spindles, 5100's all the way around, 3rd gen adjustable fronts and extended length in the back. Probably sticking with OEM springs with the shocks on the 1.1 - 1.55" setting and the 1/4" top plate driver side spacer. Also have 1.25" spidertrax spacers for the rear, I don't want the front stance wider than the back. So 4" lift in the back, 5.5"-ish in the front, sitting about level. OME springs are tempting, but it's just a pit stop on the way to real coilovers so meh. I'll be going with the blocks in the back at first to get a feel for the height (bro, like, I know bro, seriously though, bro), and then buying leaf packs when I'm sure I'm happy with how it sits. The spindles are so freakin beefy it's ridiculous. Very impressed with the build quality. I'll be throwing a couple coats of paint/clear to keep them from rusting. Apparently that's a known issue with them being made of iron.

The eventual goal is clearing 35's with little to no trimming while maintaining about an inch of rake (probably total around 7-8" lift), a nice Atlas/Alcan leaf pack out back, Fox/King coilovers in the front, some sort of UCA's, and uhh...yeah. Gears. Big freakin gears. Round one will be 33x12.50s, bro.

Also shoutout @SpruceTaco for entertaining some of my early questions.

If you plan on using the same stock coils on your Bilstein's, you won't need the 1/4 spacer on the driverside. You only need the plate when replacing the coil. I had the same concern until I did a bit of research and got confirmation from Marie at Headstrong.

As for the leafs, if you're unsure of the stance, I went with the dakars in the rear with the .85 up front and it sets pretty even after my alignment.

Clearing 35's is fairly simple, Minor fender liner trimming and doing the cab mount chop is a must.

Here's a side profile of mine

    Bilstein's @ .85
    Dakars
    35/12.50/17

I know yours is a 3rd gen but the suspension is the exactly the same as the 2nd gen.

Dude your truck is sick af. That's the 6.5" kit? Just curious, did you regear yet? I'm not going to use the 2.5" top mount spacers from Maxtrac. I already have the plate, ordered it after I took stock measurements off my truck. Marie basically told me, if it leans now, it'll lean later but if you don't notice it, don't worry about it. So I went to a flat parking lot and measured - first on E, then after a full tank. The driver side front sits 1/2" lower all the time, I want that to stop. I thought Toyota springs were designed to compensate, but at least on my truck, this doesn't seem to be the case. The driver side rear sits 1/2" lower when on a full tank, and levels out around half tank, so I'm not doing anything about that yet. As far as clearing 35s (or maybe 37s), I'm doing a 12" wide wheels - which definitely changes things for clearance and turning radius. I also don't want to drive a slug in the meantime until I can pony up for gears. As far as final stance, I definitely want more lift when I'm done. Blocks are just a cheap solution in the meantime. Marie really came through with the cost of the setup. In my head really think I'll end up with some 6" Atlas in the back, and some flavor of 2.5-3" coilovers on the front in addition to the spindles. It's just a mall crawler anyway ;)

Thanks! This is the 4inch. I was thinking of going 6.5 but didn't want to deal with ordering a spacer for the drive shaft.

Glad you asked about the regear bc I had the same question and it drove nuts. I'm still on stock gears and honestly, the only difference I noticed was, I wasn't able to burn my tires at a green light. @SpruceTaco hasn't regeared as well and said he didn't notice a difference at all.
On the highway, Im usually cruising around 70 and rpms are low, when I'm around 80, rpms are at about 3k but its not noticeable with the tires.

When Dakars are shipped, you should get one that has a + sign (the other will be an 0), this means the pack is spec'ed higher that than normal, This one goes on the driver side to compensate for the extra weight. When we did @TacoTimmy7414 , his both his packs were labeled with a +, so we didnt have to worry about pack placement on either side.

    37s would be epic!

My end plan is to either go long travel (not that I really need it in florida) or do a complete sas (or this haha). If i go sas, ill end with 37s

Yeah Dakar just doesn't have the height for what I'm aiming for. I'm likely looking at custom Alcans or Atlas. As far as the driveshaft spacer - from what I've gathered the carrier bearing drop kit (which I have) takes care of some of the problem. After that some people still get vibrations. I'll worry about that once it's up in the air. It seems for ever 2" you go up, the driveshaft can come out .5" - but not for everyone. If it's hanging out, I'll get a spacer. Once I get a feel for this 5.5/4 (block in the back) setup, and ride around on 33's for a bit, I'll know what I want to do next. Maybe I'll decide I'm cool with 33's, and don't need to go higher. Not gonna lie, I reeeeeeeeally want 35's. I'm not scared of doing CMC or some plastic chopping but I'm not really crazy about hammering the pinch mold. I almost want to go 2" OME coils (885s?) to get the full 6 upfront, shove 35's under there, and figure out what needs to get chopped, but again, 12" wide wheels are a bit unruly. I also do not any type of squat at all and prefer some rake. I like my turning radius. Maybe I'll regret not just going balls deep for 37's from the beginning and doing some BDS Setup or something. I'm not doing the install myself, so I'm not so apt to just "try things" and make tweaks later, because I'd be paying every step of the way. All I know is I hate driving stock vehicles, and this truck is too short as it sits, and I'm looking at these fools on Instagram going "damn I need to get lifted." The goal is "Damn that's an epic Taco" reactions. I'm not going to turn a brand new $40k truck into a trail shredding terror, I'll go buy another early 80's 4x4 for that if I really get the bug again. I do constantly haul ass on the highway so I'll want to do gears, but I can live with it for a while.

This shit is kind of stressful. Fucking geometry and shit. Maybe I should go back to tuner cars.

All of the bigger Hawaii guys seem to be running 6" ProComp and Rough Country lifts on 3rd Gen's with super wide wheels. I've only seen 2 3rd Gen tacos with the 6.5" MaxTrac and they aren't on here unless I'm missing them. Thegreenreaper's truck is super epic, but I think he's got to 12" total lift now, 14 wides with 38s, and it's a mashup of different lift setups - none of which I can afford. I'll be able to show what Maxtrac and Bilstein can do for the 3rd gen here soon. Jan I'll get wheels/tires and install will go down - my inner demon won't wait any longer.

This is one of the few Tacomas out running the complete, unaltered 6.5" Maxtrac kit and 35's on 9" wide wheels. I know the wheels are probably too big for most people here, but just for reference:

What's confusing to me is that, that's stock front shock/spring with a 2.5" spacer on top and a 4" block in the back. But the TRD Sport (at least mine) only has 1" of rake. So how the hell does this thing look so level, when it should be well over 1" nose high?

Yeah Thegreenreaper3 has 12" of lift, I dont know how. I can only come up with 10. Maxtracs + 3" from struts + 3" body lift =10. No idea where the other 2" came from.
    His friend has the blue 3rd Gen with 10" & 35s. Limited704coma, he's selling it & asking 50k.

2" top strut spacer? BDS does make a full 12" suspension lift kit now... Maybe he grabbed components from that. I've thought about this way too much.

I thought about a top plate spacer. I know he has Maxtracs for sure.

I was just looking his CL post.
Insane amount of money dumped into the truck just to buy another truck and let it go.
    Truck is clean though.

Yeah it is but I think he'll have a hard time selling it. He's looking to get all his money back. If your gonna spend that kind of money why not buy everything brand new?

TacoTimmy7471, thanks for taking the plunge on the Max Trac’s!! I hope you don’t mind all the questions. What all did you buy to complete the lift and what was the total cost? What wheels and tires are you running? Did your gas mileage take a big hit? How did the overall ride of the truck change? Anything you would change or improve if you did it all over again? Your truck looks great man! Thanks a bunch! -Serge
