    Folks,

Had I a scale at home I'd a done this myself. And I've been unable to find an answer searching TW.

Anyone know the weight of the non-Pro MT shift knob?

What you opinion of the weight reduction: good, bad, or no difference?

    Thanks for "weighing in" :D

I myself like the weight of the stock shifter, just don't like the feel of it. Much prefer a 2" sphere. Had a WC Latheworks in steel. Hot as *&^% in summer, cold as #$%@ in winter, and just too damn heavy for my liking - otherwise a piece of art. I'm hanging on to it for another application just in case...

Will look for something in the same weight range. Any thoughts on an alternative?

I like the feel. Weight doesn't seem to matter for me, but other folks seem to like weighty knobs. Some were 5x the weight.

I have driven a few other @7r41lbr34k3r knobs. They are killer also.

I always thought that round shift knobs felt weird. Especially on a faster car that you had to shift quick. Its nice to feel the shift knob between your fingers instead of the rod like you do with a round one.

    My fav shift knob ever.

If you can find a good machinist, I am just stoked with the Delrin knob. I had @7r41lbr34k3r go as low as possible, so it is a bit of a short shifter also.

    Thank you.
I looked at all his beautiful creations  but in the end I am too wishy-washy to make a choice...

I ran one that weighed about 80 grams, shifting was notchier for sure, not hard to get in gear though. I liked it a lot because it made it a bit more noticeable that it was in the gate.

Later I ran one that weighed 480 grams, shifting was effortless but had no feel. Took it off road, cant recommend that. Tacomas have a direct mount shifter, so the weight of the knob caused it to easily go into neutral accidentally because the knob was bouncing all over the place. Added a new challenge to off roading. Honestly I cant imagine anyone on here running a 400g+ knob that had taken it down a rut and root covered trail recommending a heavy knob.

same experience here. i used to run 700g knob on the stock shifter with a URD SS kit. when the truck would rock that knob knocking me in the knee was just ridiculous, and i lost the gear a few times as well. i now run a ~120g knob on a Core shifter and the thing snaps into gear and feels defined like a firm H gate, it's amazing and I'll never go back to the heavy ones even on a truck.

That, and he's kinda on Pause.

In the end, if you can get one in the future, there is no loss. Try it or sell it?
