So is it just me or is it impossible to find an aftermarket lower control arm for the 3rd gen Tacomas? Aside from the chaosfab ones which are way outside my price range for that part. My ball joint and bushings need replacing and in the past I’ve just purchased the assembled LCA to make it easier for me to install. Does the 2nd gen part work on the 3rd gen? I’m at a loss for finding these parts without going to a dealership. Any help is welcomed.

2nd gen LCAs are different and cant be used on the 3rd gen. Did you try rock auto or similar online places?

NVM just checked Rock Auto and only upper control arms for the 3rd gens.

I looked around online and I did find them at a dealer site for $250 each. I was just hoping for something more like $180 each. But I can buy the Toyota factory parts online. I was just hoping for an aftermarket part.

I did check rockauto and they don’t have them. Checked all the major auto parts stores and summit racing.

Ideally I’d like to find an LCA that’s just like the factory part but with zerk fittings to re-grease all the bushings and ball joints. Pipe dream I guess.

Both Dirt King and Camburg make factory length LCAs for 3rd Gens; they’re quality high performance stuff but not cheap. MSRP is over $1,600 for a set of two. Be aware that Camburg’s LCAs are not compatible with OEM coil overs, their website will have detailed explanations and specs.

if you want the best LCA for the money the OEM Toyota ones are all you can get, the other Chinese made MOOG etc. wont hold up

Even if an "expedition series" aftermarket LCA was available it would get kind of close to the price of proper +3.5" over LT arms (you would probably replace the stock upper arm too to work with the whole "improved" set up with coil overs and spindle gussets).

As far as cost to benefit goes with front suspension:

    - All stock OEM upper and lower arms: good

    - Just aftermarket upper arm (TC, Icon, camburg): not bad for the price

    - "expedition series" aftermarket stock length upper AND lower arms: dumb

    - +2" over LT kit: even dumber

    - +3.5" over LT kit: okay

    - Custom race LT kit: dumb, sell truck and by a side by side or craigslist beater truck at that price.

Whiteline told me that they are working on replacement LCA bushings for the 3rd gens. Didn't give an ETA, but they stated they are actively developing them, whatever that means.

Once they are released, I'll be buying them. The 2nd gen guys swear by them. Sadly, the 2nd gen LCA is not cross-compatible with the 3rd gens.

Thanks for all the info. I looked into the performance parts. I think I’m just going to have to go with an OEM part. I’ve got almost 100k on the original LCAs and the boots are broken and leaking grease and the rubbers all rotted out on the bushings.

I already spent quite a bit of money on aftermarket UCAs and a whole new performance suspension system mainly to handle the heavy loads I carry regularly when I’m off road. It’s hard for me to justify the extra expense at this point. Maybe I’ll start saving up for those and get factory ones for now.

I just had Stage 8 Icon suspension installed and I’m in the same boat. Can’t find anything besides OEM (even those are in limited supply from what I’ve seen) and don’t want to spend even more money for upper-tier LCA’s

I actually ended up getting the Dirt King LCA’s. A bit pricier but they’re excellent

Nothing dumb about stronger LCAs that won’t snap around where the bushings are.

Just catching in to this thread , I’m wondering if the oem LCA is compatible with a 3 in puck lift, I put the lift in about a year ago and noticed grease starting to come out of the boot on lca, I do have 83k on original lca, so if I replace them do I need to look at options for compatibility? Is there even such a thing as a lca for 3 in lift? TIA
