A Halogen that is slightly more white in color shouldn't be too much of an issue in snow(I think) compared to the White of an LED. I just have a preference of white light, and fogs are not in the budget for now. Maybe next year.

Another option to consider that is very similar in color to the +130s is the Hella H9 Performance 2.0 bulbs ire viewed in post #1577 here. They are brighter than the +130s but do require trimming a plastic tab on the bulb.

You could be right! I would say your wait for the +130s may be awhile though. Not sure how long you have before you leave to Tahoe but I saw you posted in the Phoenix region thread. I have an extra set of +120s you can try if you’d like.
I also have some HAKARI LED bulbs you can have.

Send me a PM if either is of interest

Fall semester starts about 6.5 months from now but ill def keep that in mind if time creeps along and I get antsy. Or if one of these days I head to snow bowl I actually get some powder. Hopefully this Wednesday flag gets some fresh snow.

While the German ones test just slightly better, the performance is almost identical so I wouldn't let it bother you.

My Rav4 takes h11 bulbs in the fog lights do you think it would be worth upgrading to a better h11 or h9 for a fog light?

Most fogs are an open reflector with no bulb glare shield and there are no glare caps on an H9, unlike an H11. So you wouldn't want to run an H9 in the fogs. Best bulb option is the H11 Tungsram Nighthawk Xenon +120. They are hard to find currently but Walmart of all places has them in stock. A better option would be to upgrade the Rav4 fogs to some Diode Dynamics SS3 SAE fog assemblies in selective yellow. They are covered in the SAE review thread: Diode Dynamics SS3

I drive a 2020 SR5. I want to upgrade to the 2020 Pro headlights, and I want to make sure that I get all of the appropriate parts before install. These are the parts I know I will need so far:
    81150-04300 (LH)
    81110-04300 (RH)
    Harness for each headlight
    HDRL Controller for each headlight
Is there anything else I am missing?
I am not mechanically inclined, so is it possible to do the install myself? Or should I ask the dealer?

There is a thread for that. Also a main thread for DIY. And of course the megathread for the assemblies with lots of chatter on where to buy and the part numbers for pro and offroad. I also double-checked your part numbers against mine and they are a match.

Friend had a 2017 and he was able to run fogs and drl with no mods. It was a lease.

Love how you're parked outside a Loco Taco place.... sorry - I have never commented before (love the forums and community - don't get me wrong, lots of great info), but could not resist that one.

Will do, and thanks. The forums have been great. I just paid off my truck not too long ago and looking to modify some stuff. Been getting a ton of work NOT done while I go into bottomless pits of threads...

Just recently purchased a 2005 Lexus GX 470. It came with Sylvania H11C 64211SU, which googling seems to be "SYLVANIA H11 SilverStar Ultra High Performance Halogen". They have a partial blue coating but not over the filament. They seem ok but how would they compare with the Philip H9s?

    @klavender1

Well considering a standard H9 produce about 75% more light (before the blue coating) for only 10w extra power draw, pretty safe to say you'll see a difference.

Moved from the SAE fog thread:

Based on the tests I have done this seems specific to running LEDs in a halogen assembly, which is why I now run those tests at 42' for the comparison. I suspect the better the LED design in replicating a halogen, the less the effect vs a larger/bulky high output unfocused LED. I don't believe I see the same issue with a full LED assembly, certainly not an SAE fog assembly as the pattern is very distributed vs focused like a headlight.

Wavelength won't matter in a headlight test, assuming the test equipment is able to correctly read the wavelengths. I use a full spectrum digital spectrometer to avoid any issues with wavelength and test equipment sensitivity.

In a reflector, I haven't done distance test but the LED pattern is pretty irregular at 18' in a 2nd Gen Tacoma lamp vs a very uniform halogen pattern, so I would anticipate similar misleading results.

I cannot explain exactly 100% technically why a shorter range test on replacement LEDs in halogen housings results in inflated numbers. The reduced focus is much less apparent at shorter distances, but that should in theory still scale correctly based on candela to longer distances in measured lux values although in practice in my experience it does not. It has been suggested that the test sensor surface area could be too small for accurate data on a shorter test, I've compared my spectometer and larger sensor LED lux meter and come up with nearly identical values, but maybe even the lux meters sensor is too small for a shorter test. My take-away is that the standard 18-25' test is really insufficient when testing replacement LEDs, and a long range test is needed to reveal focus issues for more accurate projection results.

Looking into getting new headlights for my 2020. I’m between the oem 2020 leds or the morimoto gen 2 xb headlights. I care a lot about output, so which one should I go with?
