3rd gen fabric floor mats in 2nd gen?

Seen someone selling new floor mats from a 2022 tacoma, would these fit 2nd gens as well?

 

Welcome to Tacoma World! They might fit, but it's not going to be a good fit. If you search Google images for "2005 tacoma floor mats" and then do the same for 2022 you'll see the difference. It's slight but noticeable.

Best best would be to find some gently used 2nd gen mats or buy something aftermarket like Husky weatherbeaters.

 

There are 3 types of mats for the 2005-2023 Tacoma, broken up by model years: 2005-2011, 2012-2015, and 2016-2023.

The 2016-2023 may fit pretty well in the 2012-2015 as they use the same retaining methodology, though there may be a tad bit of interference as the vehicle-side clips are a bit different.

2005-2011 used hooks instead of twist-lock retainers, and are quite a bit different.

I have a 2014 and someone posted a good set of used 2016-2023 weather techs for sale near me. Would it just require some trimming? It’s front and back for $90 and the pictures look good, kind of hard to pass the price if it will work. The previous owner sold it to me without floormats so I have nothing right now
