2017 Tacoma 4x4 TRD Off Road
    Hi Guys,

Well, my 09 PreRunner got totaled when a nice college student rear ended me and I just picked up my new-to-me 2017 4x4 TRD Off Road.

So far I like the truck except for the door panels inside. I am not complaining about the color or anything.

Some one at Toyota really crapped the bed by putting the window controls exactly where my knee needs to be and they sacrificed the comfort of the truck. I'm considering returning it and buying a Tundra instead.

Wanted to ask if anyone knows whether I could swap the 4runner door panels into the Taco. The switches are in a different location in the 4Runner.

I'm really disappointed by Toyota's terrible layout on the door panels. In my opinion they are a fail on the 3rd Gen. Has anyone else worked around this problem?

    Thanks in advance,

    Fried

I honestly think people choose their TVs more carefully vs clothes, spouses, vehicles and college majors

I really hate the fact that the engineers didn't find you and design the panels around your knee.:D
I don't have an issue with it as I do not let my leg rest on the door panel. Maybe a slight seat adjustment will get your knee in a better position?

You gonna return a 2017, if that's what you call it, mmkay.
I'm wondering if this is more of a troll post.

Totally agree with you Fried. Don't mind the trolls. I had an 09 and remember that I could rest my left elbow on the door panel comfortably - with my 18 I can't cause the ledge is much lower. Good luck! Nothing wrong with changing something that you don't like

This is why I paid extra to have my body 3d laser scanned and have the cabin completely re-engineered and designed to contour to my body. Pricey but worth it imo.

Well, seems there are plenty of wise guys with commentary, some of which is actually quite funny.

Let me explain... I bought the truck from Carvana and only took the test drive before I accepted the truck this morning. Since I have 7 days to see if I wanna keep it, I figured I would drive it for a while and see if I get used to it. I'm coming from an 09 Prerunner with the 4.0 V6. As others have commented, that also seemed like a more responsive engine.

If you bought it from Carvana is already means you over paid, return it and get a Ridgeline.

If you plan on always comparing it to your 09, go ahead and return it now. You will never be satisfied with it.

I won't be buying a Ridgeline, either. Thank you.
