TLDR: Would love to see pics of your 3rd Gen DCLBs and descriptions of whether they’re stock or lifted. Especially looking for comparisons of stock vs OEM TRD Lift Kit (or an equivalent, modest lift).

More info: My DCLB Off-Road is arriving this week. I plan to run it stock for a while and see what it needs based on my use. But I’m considering/researching a small lift. Mostly because sometimes, to my eye, a DCLB can look a bit low and long. Been reading through the forums but haven’t seen too many pics of DCLBs that include descriptions of their lifts/tires.

For now, I’m interested in a modest lift, like the OEM TRD Lift Kit. I gather most dealerships won’t do the TRD Lifts on 6’ beds. I saw someone post that, when their dealer said no, they instead had the dealer install 2" spacers in the front and 1" blocks in the back - and they had it done before they took delivery so it could be included in the warranty.

Should I consider going that route if they say no to TRD Lift Kit? I’m totally okay with just changing the height and not the suspension.

Or would just going up on tire size accomplish what I’m looking for?

Truck will be a daily driver, with occasional long highway trips and frequent weekend camping adventures. Bumpy dirt roads, forest service roads, and some beginner off-roading but nothing challenging. Also need to tow a tear drop trailer or small lightweight camper sometimes.

Totally new to trucks, suspensions, and lifts, so forgive any errors or ignorance.

Thanks for any help - and for your pics, which will let me better visualize all of this.

For your intended use, stock is more than enough capable to handle that.

For aesthetics, I do feel DCLB will look better running on tires that are a bit larger and wheels with some poke like 0mm offset to -10mm to make it look wider. Check https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/lets-see-those-double-cab-long-beds-3rd-gen.417031/ you'll find all the possible DCLB and what people do with it.

Also, whatever mod you do to it, it'll just void that part of warranty. No reasonable dealership would deny your engine failure warranty because you changed the shocks

There are literally 100s of threads on DCLBs and 3Gen lifts. You spent more time typing then it would have taken to search.

TRD lift kit isn't an option for a DCLB, at least according to Mama Toyota, as you indicated:

"Fits MY20+ Tacoma V6 4X4 (Excluding: 2WD, 4Cyl, Double Cab Long Bed, and TRD Pro)"

Mine is not lifted, 4Runner TRD Pro wheels with a +4mm offset and the OEM Toyo A30s 265/65R17 (for now)

Keep it stock, stock is cool and it will last a very long time.
    Good luck with your truck.

you can get an actual full suspension lift for about the same price as that overpriced TRD spacer lift.
