I was wondering if anyone has tried to fit the 3rd gen tacoma hidden winch bumper on a second gen tacoma? They are about half the price of the ones for second gen tacomas. was wondering how off the fitment would be? Could you cut the plastic part on the second gen to make it work? upload_2021-8-8_23-11-27.jpg

I'm sure you could cut the plastic to make it fit. Where those cuts would be and how good it'd look...now that's another story. No it won't fit. Not even a little

The hard mounting points on the frame are the same. However, the 3rd gen grille sticks out about 2" farther forward relative to the frame, so 3rd gen bumpers also stick out 2" farther forward. The same bumper mounted on a 2nd gen will be ugly, and there will likely be a big gap on the top.

Thanks for the feedback, sounds like it’s a no go and I’ll need to just save for the right product

I think my c4 was made for a 3rd gen and it fits mostly perfect. It rubs on the factory bumper a little and good luck taking your grill off, but the quality is great. its their slim line bumper. I have taken down many a tree with it and no issues, also I got it RinoLined witch I suggest. Also, get the support brackets if you plan on a witch and get up stuck yourself.

Awesome looks great. Did it mount on pretty easily? How much of the bumper did you have to cut?

Got a side view? I don't think your slimline bumper was for a 3rd gen - that hoop would end up inside the grille if mounted on a 3rd gen.

I fitted a 2nd gen Pelfreybilt bumper onto my truck. The front face of the bumper is about flush with the grille emblem. I had to cut two big holes in the grille for the hoop tubes to pass through.

Yeah they don’t offer it in the 2nd gen but mine fits. They do have the 2nd gen frame support brackets.

it was definitely for a 3rd gen, they don’t offer a 2nd gen slimline bumper. Look at their site. I’m also the one who bought it and I know I ordered the 3rd gen bumper

Ok I stand corrected, my invoice does say second gen, but didn’t see it on their site.

I see, install is super straight forth. I’d say if he wants one, just call them. I’m sure they’d be happy to answer any questions. I had really good communication with them. 10 week lead time though but I guess that’s normal

@RelentlessFab has a similar bumper that they do special order batches of. It's not listed on their website and I'm not positive they still make them. You have to email them for more info.

I've been running one for 5 or 6 years now and it's been solid for me. The production version doesn't have the Tacoma lettering.

They have discontinued the 2nd Gen.

I like that, does it come with the frame supporting brackets? And also that make sense they took the 2nd gen bumper off the site.

It comes with the brackets and I was able to fit my warn m8000 without relocating the control box. It is plenty stout too.
