Will The LCA's off 3rd Gen 4runner work on my 1999 Tacoma? I have read that they do but can't confirm. I read Ball Joints are Different but the LCA is the Same.

    4 run, 2 don't
Comparing the part numbers on Rockauto, they're different.

    Maybe someone can truly confirm.

Sway bar mounts might be different, so you'd have to swap the sway bar end links as well.

I personally did this on my 2000 Tacoma. 3rd gen 4Runner lca’s will work on a 1st gen Tacoma, but the sway bar end link mounting points are different. If you want a sway bar, you’ll need a 3rd gen 4Runner sway bar and end links

Curious why you want to know?

If you have free ones laying around, throw them on and find out. As others have said, they are "mostly" compatible, difference being the sway bar links.

Seems like ordering the correct part is a better option. It's not like 4Runner LCAs are really any cheaper that Tacoma ones.

That begs the next question: Will a 4Runner swaybar fit on a Tacoma?

If you have the 4runner parts laying around and don't care about a swaybar, go to town, but at a certain point it might be better to just run a tacoma part.

Why do you need/want to replace them? These aren't parts that "wear out". Shops will tell you that you need new ones because they are too lazy to swap the bushings. So if a shop told you need new ones, they are 99% full of crap.

Then you don't need control arms. Just the bushings. Like I said, shops tend to want to replace the entire control arm because it is quicker and easier (labor wise) for them, and it doesn't cost them extra because they charge YOU for the parts.

Whitelines I hear are a very good quality OEM style replacement, and need to be pressed in. Any shop should be able to do that for you (just take in the arms). I did that with my leaf springs since I had to have the OEM ones pressed out (poly ones press in very easily with a vice or a C-clamp).

Personally, I switched to Energy Suspension Poly bushings. You burn out the old rubber (for the LCAs), preserving the outer sleeve, and push in the poly bushings (no press needed). My bushings have lasted 7ish years so far, and replacing them takes maybe an hour and is 100% DIY since you don't need a press.

good to know, but at a certain point you would be replacing perfectly functioning parts just to run the "wrong" part. (i.e. more $$ negating cost savings from a "good deal" on the part)

I see a lot of posts of people asking if XY part from Z vehicle with fit their vehicle. For me, unless it's a free part you have laying around or there is a specific upgrade that vehicle's part offers, it's generally better to just replace it with the correct part. Like people asking about Tundra parts fitting their Tacoma: Tundra springs: that's silly. Tundra brakes? Yeah, there's an advantage there...

    Besides, OP just needs bushings.

I've got a driver side 4runner LCA headed my way as I totally destroyed mine trying to remove the bushings. It was $45 shipped vs over $100 for all the Tacoma ones I found on ebay... And I'll still be better off than buying Moog or other brand replacements... This time I'll let the shop press out the bushings though
