I've been wanting to V8 swap my Tacoma for a while now. I've been looking at most likely a 392 6.4L swapping my Tacoma or maybe 6.2L hellcat swapping it. Don't waste my time saying "just buy a tundra" or anything along those lines. Anyone have any experience fitting/ swapping V8s into the 3rd gens? also any ideas on rear axles that can handle the Horsepower and Torque cause I know a good 14bolt 1 ton should. This plan won't be done or started until 3-5 years from now (unless I get a sponsor). I'm taking my time to meticulously plan every aspect of the swap in the mean time.

The 4.6 tundra V8 is a really nice motor

seems like there might be a lot to do more than just engine swap, you probably know. I am Interested in your build if you decide to do it

Don't have much to add besides it will likely be easier to swap in a Toyota motor. Plugs, wiring, computers. I would assume these items will be more compatable staying with Toyota.

With that said, a Toyota motor will not have anywhere near the power of a hellcat motor.

Seems like a waste of time, but only one that’s been completed afaik is the one above.

3rd gen would be a cool platform if you have unlimited money and experience. You might as well start start with a frame and body, since most everything else will have to be fabbed/custom made or installed. There’d be easier platforms to start from without breaking down a 3rd gen, but to each their own.

Tundra motors are cool and all but I want serious power not just decent power. I know it'll be difficult af but I also know the end result will be amazing and 1 of a kind.

What driveline are you planning on running behind the engine? Certainly not stock.

If it were me, I'd wait a couple years. The next Tundra and Tacoma could possibly have turbo V6 motors. If so, with a tune, they will be rockets.

I vote LS swap. Much cheaper and way more of an aftermarket.

OP dont be surprised if this thread goes down in flames. Typically with this level of modification to a vehicle, your best bet is to research it, start the project and possibly complete it and then post results on a forum. Otherwise you are simply going to get trolled into oblivion by non-believers and haters that don't want to read about your pie-in-the-sky dreams for something you aren't even going to start until five years down the road.

AWD I hope. A co worker traded his Hellcat Charger for a Trackhawk because he said he could rarely hook up so it was wasted Horsepower. Any

It would fall apart as soon as you touch the gas pedal. Nothing on a third gen is built to handle that kind of power.

If he had the OR rear axle, that baby is beefy.
