That wasn't what I was meaning. Not wanting to get into the weeds, that post was a synopsis.

The long version is that after experimenting with many materials to create actual FDM prints of small parts that might be certified for aircraft, my old company focused in on very custom PET and nylon materials. I had a good bit of time destroying many parts including actual extensometer, flammability, and environmental testing. The environmental testing included shaker table tests in all three axes, chemical sprays, and other fun stuff (RTCA DO-160, if you are familiar).

In comparison of similar sized parts, the TPU stuff that I messed with was impressive for as flexible as it was. We did not use it for our intended purposes, but it was memorable as I noted.

Based on my experiences, I am very likely to order up a set of these bump stops. The price is right, and it would be fun to see how they fair.

Hey Folks! Owner and operator of PerryParts here -
I'm stoked to see the interest and questions about my product. Happy to answer questions for you.

I made these because I wasn't happy with the other options on the market - I'm a manufacturing engineer by trade, so I had a hard time paying $400+ for a set of rubber/polyurethane/whatever bumpstops, knowing the margins on those products.

I also wanted to bake in a few features by using additive manufacturing - namely air powered compression damping (basically the hollow infill allows for pressure to build, and help the bumpstop create pressure.) This lets them have low force feedback at low speed compression, but still provide high force bottom out compression on hard hits.
    • Regarding durability
      • I have a video of a polyurethane 4Runner bumpstop vs PerryParts on my IG. Dropped my 6000+lb GX470 on them. Held up great. Check it out here. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CnioLSbqPl0/
      • I totally get your concerns -- I've personally run mine for 15 mo now (and I wheel a lot), and I have not broken them. We also have 240 orders over the past 5 mo currently out in the wild with no failures, or returns to date.
      • As an engineer, I know no design is perfect, so I offer the no questions asked warranty. "no questions asked" means if you use them and they get damaged in any way, I'll replace them. This lets me make my product better, and lets you use them with confidence.
    • Regarding liability
      • No one else offers coverage for other components with use of their product, so I don't either. It's easy to set up a vehicle in all sorts of ways (many bad), and no setup is the same. But I can guarantee the bumpstops themselves will hold up fine.
    • Regarding performance
      • The compression damping is a game changer here. No other bumpstop offers low force at slow speed and high force at high speed - ensuring no limitation to articulation at slow speed.
      • I'm also working on comparisons to other products on the market. Just takes me time as I'm one guy building the business, designing new products, running the printers, running the social media, packaging and shipping, and working a full time job on the side. It's so rewarding to work with folks like AJ4mPR on new products though - makes it worth it.

Thanks! I appreciate the suggestion - definitely interested in becoming a regular, and I'll look into vendor membership as well.

@perryparts, I'm interested in some front bumps and just sent a message via your website with a few questions.

For the others here, I'll be happy to share feedback if I end up running these on my truck. I'm curious how they'll perform in extreme temps and how they will handle road salt from winters in the Sierra.

So what happened to the competitors bump? Did it break off the mount? Unless it was from the dollar store and made of tin foil there is no way it compressed like that.

Hey @erok81, sorry I missed this message! - The product tested was a polyurethane bumpstop. I, and some friends have had these polyurethane bumps fail a few times, but they're super comfortable up until they do.

They either split in half, or break apart near the mounting location.

I'm not interested in naming names of competitors, but you should be able to identify the product by the photos.

Huh. That’s crazy. I guess it did snap off. I like the design of yours. Pretty good idea.

Nope. Probably going the LT+air bump route instead.
