I am open to paying for it, if its a decent model, my next option would be to build one myself, but don't really have the time for that.

    Hey @Rastopher,
No I was never able to find one that I could use to build off of, I think I came across some really low fidelity versions but It wasn't anything that I could model over. I did consider doing a scan but its pretty pricey.

Im actually pretty surprised that I couldn't find one due to the amount of aftermarket parts for these trucks.

What are you looking for specifically ?

I hate to keep this zombie thread going, anyone else still wanting a 3d model of a 01'-04' Xtra cab? I have been watching this thread for years now... I have solid works and free-cad experience and I want to obtain a simple .OBJ model of my truck for development of systems, armor, accessories and mods. I'm about to just start modeling from scratch and waste time getting nowhere or have it commissioned and if I do would anyone be interested in a copy?

Yeah, I can export to an .obj or many other formats. I’m happy to share it with you. (Mine is a 6’ bed). Also, that was a scan from when I first got it and it had some stuff in the bed. I’m happy for an excuse to do another now that it’s empty (except for my toolbox).

What app did you use for that? Did it come out pretty clean?
I've been looking for a xcab 95-97 model for ages, and theres only a 1996 Standard cab model floating around.

If this actually makes solid usable models that is such a game changer, the only other option was incredibly time consuming modeling..

I used PolyCam. I have an iPhone 14Pro. It has a LiDar scanner which this app takes advantage of. I have a subscription to this app through work. There is another one on iOS called Scaniverse that is free and does pretty well.

It does make pretty good models. I have uploaded my original that I made which is just of the exterior of the truck excluding the bottom (from when I originally had it delivered to me. Note that there is a box in the bed which is included in the model. This can easily be removed in the modeling software of your choice.). This scan came out very clean. Some artifacting on the side mirrors but other than that dimensionality is preserved and model is quite smooth.

The second model (full truck model), I ran over to my office warehouse earlier tonight, and did another scan of the whole truck (excluding under the hood). I did inside the cab (even under the dash) as well as underneath to try to get as much detail as possible.
*NOTE that with this model there is a lot more artifacting (on the exterior wheel wells, there is a gap in the middle of the bed where it drops down, and the front bumper looks a bit whack). However, it did fair job inside the cab (the steering wheel is screwy) and underneath the truck is as good as can be expected). With all of the detail that I tried to get in this model, I believe that it overwhelmed my phone and lead to some of these.

These should make for a good start for anyone who has been looking for a model to start working with.

Please feel free to make requests of any parts that you would like me to do individual scans of to get more detail on and I'll be happy to help.

The .obj's can be accessed here.

I really appreciate you putting this out for everyone.

Not sure if its just me, but it looks like there was an error uploading the Exterior only model. The full model loads fine, but when I go to open the Exterior Only model it is reading the .obj files as folders with no data, and can't be opened. It shows them as a folder on Google Drive as well.

I just ran out and made a new scan of just the exterior and some of the underside. I’ve uploaded it into that folder as a V2. Let me know if that works.
