I have gone down a rabbit hole recently, to get 33" tires on my 2016 Off-Road. I want to avoid spacers, and probably move to 17" wheels, since there seem to be more tire options.

I am going to install a 2" lift and am wondering what my options are to get to 33s. It seems like even with new UCAs, I'd still need a different offset wheel. If you have 33's on a 2016, can you tell me what size wheel and offset you have? Tire specs /Lift/ UCA info is appreciated as well.

No matter what anyone tells you ALL Taco's are individually different by small amounts. That being said, in general for 33's if you stay from a +10 offset & 4.89" BS to a -10 offset & 4.3 BS (anywhere in between) you should have only minor rubbing at full lock/turn while flexed or in reverse. Any more + or any more - on the offset you will run into rubbing issues. Really plan on the CMC (cab mount chop) , and some heat gun inner fender melting&pushing back to get no rubbing at all! 33's look great also remember bigger tires has a HUGE affect on gas mileage and livability! With a stock 3.9 gearing, 33's make this baby lag like crazy! 4.88's on 33" tires is as close to the stock power as you can get! Ask the members who have regeared after 33's....its good! Really good! Good luck and get her done! They will look awesome! I have 16 x 8's +10 offset, slight rub on LCA, no biggie!

Make sure to post them pics!

33” isn’t a fixed size. Consider width and do research before buying.

Get 255’s, not 285’s. You will enjoy it more (power, mpg, utility) and you probably won’t rub if you do it right

I just installed 255x80x17 Nittos. Went with a 8" wheel with 0 offset and SPC UCAs. I did tons of research before deciding on the 255 because I wanted minimal rubbing. As far as MPG goes I haven't got an actual number for how much I lost but it is a tad less then before. Power wise still feel like the same truck.

Exactly why I chose the same width, but 255/75 and they are 32”. What tire did you go with? Pics?

I’ve been running 285/70r17 Toyo AT on 17x8.5 -6. No rubbing unless at full lock and hitting an incline with too much speed. About to go up to 295s on Saturday and I expect to be cutting and re-molding as new sounds arise...

2” lift front 3” rear, jba UCA, 2.9 caster on alignment, no wheel spacers. CMC was done before lift and wheels/tires, no mudflats.

Had to cut a small part of plastic of my fender flares behind the tires. Seem to rub my pinch welds when I’m turning fast on bumpy inclines but it’s nothing huge Where it’s in the way of driving. Going slow I won’t rub them.

Hammer my pinch welds on my next tire rotation.

i am in the same boat as you. I have my eyes on three sets of wheels at the moment, one being 17x9 +1 offset, 5'' backspacing, the other being 16x8 -25 offset, 3.50'' backspacing, or possibly 17x9, -38 offset, 3.50'' backspacing. which wheel would fit with a minimal amount of work? I would like to avoid the CMC. Leaning towards going with the Nitto ridge grappers in 285/70 if I go with the 17s. Havent looked at tire choices for 16s yet.

Also thinking bilstein 5100s all around.

I have 285/75/16s on a 16" wheel 4.5" backspacing 0 offset. Eibach pro truck lift, front struts are set at 0". AAL in the rear. Stock UCAs. No cutting or trimming done. No CMC. I dont rub anywhere. It has been off road and flexed, still no rub. I average about 18mpg.

    I am running 295/75/16 and ran 285/75/16s.. 295s are a 33.4 and 285s are 32.7 . the Ko2 is both sizes is roughly 11.8 wide

I have FJ TRD 16's 7.5" wide wheels

I have a 2-3" Toytec Boss lift and SPC UCAs. no spacers. SPCs help with getting your alignment back to factory specs or as close to as possible and give a fraction of more space between the wh

No rubbing and no Body mount chop..As long as you explain to the guy doing the alignment that you want a slight centering of the tire.

I have run 255/85/16 on my FJ and LandCruiser. Referred to as Pizza cutters for a reason. They look ok on a 79 series Landcruiser but personally, I think they look silly.

The 295 is really a great fit and gives a solid stance to the Taco. Not a lot of guys are doing this tire size. But it should be a solid choice, in my opinion.

I’m excited to get mine put on. My 295 Duratracs go on tomorrow, along with a realignment. Will update with pictures. I’ve got Camburg UCAs, so we’ll see if I’ve got to cut some metal in the end :sawzall:

You think? Seems like an oddly skinny size. From what I have read, I could keep stock wheels and do a 255/85/r16 and not rub. Just don't have as many tire options and what is available seems to be more expensive.

So if I were to go to a 5" BS with a +1 offset I would likely be in good shape for a 285/70/R17? Sorry, I am very new to wheel offset and backspacing measurements. I understand what the dimensions are but am still getting a hold of running it in my head and not drawing out on a piece of paper. I also drive a M/T, so shifting at a more ideal RPM with the larger wheels wouldn't be an issue. That said, I understand power/torque will decrease.

Check this out: found it linked on another post on this site. source: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/wheel-offset-for-stock-2016-offroad.467847/

At this point, I'm leaning towards the OME kit with Nitro Chargers. Don't want to have to extend the brake lines in the rear with the 5100s.

Careful with OME. Unless you are running bumpers the Sport is pretty stout and really charged for running bumpers, it may drive very stiff. The OME Dakar HDs though are the bomb! I have Toytec Boss 2.5s front and back, best system I have run ever!
