305/70r17 Tires. Who’s Running Them?

I’m very interested in this tire size. If you have a 2nd gen and are running 305/70r17 tires, please dump a copious amount of photos here. Thanks!

 

You listed 2 different sizes between the title and the post. Are you looking for 305/70/17? I don't have them, but I have 305/65/17 which are basically 33's.

You spelled 315/70r17 wrong.

 

Honestly. You’re going to have to trim a LOT to run 305/70/17 especially on an aggressive offset wheel. It’s gonna be almost the same as trimming for 35’s and depending on your tire choice they might weigh similarly also. Remember this.

that’s a lot of work for essentially a “wide 33” if you stick with 305/70/17. Imo just go 295/70/17 or all the way full send 315/70/17

 

305/70/17 will essentially be a lot of work to fit & a lot of rotating weight for something that just looks a little wider than your current tires. Just my .02

 

Yeah I get your point. The 305/70/17 is a 34” tire (33.8), with more width than a 295, but less than the 315. I was hoping for a slightly larger tire that wouldn’t feel/behave much different than my 295’s...

 

2lb difference between my 295’s and the 305’s if I stick with the XLT’s...

 

But then you have to buy new wheels also. You keep referring to 17’s ?

 

Yes. Considering 17’s for addition tire options and big break kit capabilities.

 

Ok... but did you see that the 315/75r16 cooper ATX is also 34.5” tall and 63lbs?

 

Though I’d want to go -38 offset so that wouldn’t help fitment...lol. I just need to buy a commuter car for a DD and go 35’s.

 

I’m also just pointing out that “315” width tires mainly measure out to just under 35” tall but are a larger tire overall than the 305’s. And of course you already know that some all terrains are as heavy as or heavier than mud terrains

 

You gotta look at specifics of specific tires.

Even ko2’s are heavier but smaller in all diameters than my 315 milestar mud terrains. That’s whack.

 

Also - big brake kits are very expensive. You might find a reliable old Camry for literally the same cost as putting “bigger brakes” on your truck. I believe slotted and NON drilled rotors with high quality performance pads, SS brake lines & a fresh flush would improve braking power significantly without the astronomical cost of BBK. At that point too, I’d argue a regear is much more important than a BBK. All just my .02

 

All true. A regear *should* be next on the agenda before a larger tire size in my case, especially considering I commute in my truck...I appreciate the logical reminders. We’ll see!

 

What did y’all regear to for your 305/70r17s if I may ask?
