I would recommend that they should just stick to a oil and filter change...

Does service have to be done at the dealership to maintain the lifetime powertrain warranty or how does that work?

No. As long as the service is exactly what they require it can be done at any shop. Materials have to be the same as recommended (oils, fluids, greases etc). Keep any service receipts from places not a dealership and if they claim you went against your warranty you have identifiable proof that that's absolute BS and they can suck it.
Edit: you can do it yourself too as long as you stick to Toyota standards and can prove you did things properly (again, supplies receipts, any legit instructions you used)
Edit take 2: See this link https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0138-auto-warranties-routine-maintenance

Only thing on that list is the diff service. All the rest can wait and the EFI is pure snake oil lol we sold them at Lexus simply because we were told to. Really the only true benefit I could say was we cleaned the throttle bodies but they did nothing to help with carbon build up.

You need to find a new dealer. If it were me, I'd give them a piece of my mind after giving them a chance to try to explain themselves.

Do the diff yourself, but that's it from that list.

Ewww, All I did at 30k was Oil change ( $60 paid them cause it was like 100F out) then I replaced my cabin filter, engine air filter ($17 for both filters) and new wiper blades. ($20).

I would check all my fluids while I’m at the gas station filling my truck up. That would be my 30,000 mile service on a taco

When my cars are under warranty Ill take them into the dealership for service but dont let them touch it when the warranty expires. I have a very good mechanic I go to when It is something I cant do myself.
I recently left a Ford dealership where I took a job 4 months earlier after retiring from my full time job and could not believe what I saw going on there. Have you seen the news about the transmissions going bad in the Focus and Fiestas? I complained repeatedly about those cars having transmission problems while they were in for service but Ford was instructing the dealerships not to address the problem until after the warranty was up and then stick the owner for the costs. The dealerships were well aware of the problem.
If the customer said something was wrong with their car then it must be true and they would replace anything and everything and say it was all bad. I used to see new parts thrown in the trash that someone paid for that was never installed. Dealerships praise themselves for customer loyalty. To me they just found another sucker.

EFI is literally a bottle of a decent fuel system cleaner ( $10 max at autozone, shop I was at used BG products, but $200??, crazy)

optimizer? I have no clue what unicorn snot this is......

brake fluid flush - un-necessary at 30k miles (unless your brake fluid looks like a shade of applejuice (and they dip it, and show you the strip, or show you the H2O meter reading showing more than 2% at the MC)

diff fluids change... not unheard of, and you may wish to have this done.. but $230 for $35 worth of fluid, and maybe 20 minutes of work? no WAY!!! I can do this in my drivway....

PS flush.. nope.. not at 30K unless the fluid is BLACK...(most are clear, or red (ATF) when new)... i'd wait till 60k, then do the flush...

sure these are preventative services.. just pay attention to your warranty.. as it may stipulate what services must be done, and when to maintain the warranty status.. whether the shop does them, you take it elsewhere, or you do them yourself.. save your receipts.. as long as they are done at the time (record mileage on reciept for product when service is done), they cannot dispute where a service is done, just so long as it was done to maintain warranty....

almost all of these services you can do easily enough at home with simple tools.. PS flush may be the most complicated/involved.. Brake flush is as simple as unscrewing bleeders and doing a gravity bleed, just checking fluid color at the bleeders through a clear 1/4" hose.

Go into any quick lube store and they try to sell you everything under the sun. The employees make a commission on every sale and are under pressure from management to sell, sell, sell.

Any warranty's and service checks you actually need are in your manual. Everything else is just fluff they are trying to sell you. Check your owners manual.

...unless you operate your vehicle under a severe duty cycle...like 4-wheeling. Then...ALL fluids and filters. EFI and Optimizer is BS though...and those other prices ARE inflated.

Those iridium plugs last a long time.

It’s the same 3.5V6 used in the Sienna vans, right?

My previous daily driver 2013 base model, when I traded it in 3 months ago, it had 150k miles. I pulled the front 3 plugs, they were all in great shape.

I’ve never had them changed because it would cost $500, close to 4 hours of labor.

Our other Sienna has 114k miles, still in excellent shape when I checked in March.

Save yourself $950 and do the diffs yourself, that’s all you really need and I go 60k miles on gear fluid.
