New to Tacoma World and owning a Tacoma. With a 3" lift kit and 1.5" wheel spacers can I fit 285/70/17's with no trimming or rub? If not what tire size would you suggest. Also A/T tire recommendations would be highly appreciated.

Can’t answer you for sure but it also depends on wheel and offset on top of your spacers.. i ran a 285/65/18 (same size tire) with a 2” lift on 18x9 0 offset (2nd gen) that required some very minor trimming of the forward liner.

Thanks! I have been looking at either the BFG ko2’s, Falken Wildpeaks AT3, or the Cooper discoveries

I'm running a 3" lift with 1.25 Spidertrax spacers, 285/70/17 Cooper STT Pros, and Method Double Standards with something like -12 or -14 offset. Required a cab mount chop for sure, but no rubbing afterward. Imo you'll have to do a cab mount chop, but depending on the wheel offset you may not rub as bad

I have ~3 inch lift. Maxed out lift on icon coilovers. The cab mount chop is really not a big deal. Mine's held up fine through all kinds of abuse. But you will rub unless you chop some of it. And pound the pinch weld flat with a sledge hammer, as shown in pics. Took me about 60 seconds to do and it's water-tight still.

Well I have made a mistake and realized that my wheels are 16's not 17's so I am not quite sure where that leaves me but let it be known!

You may actually not need a cmc then. I know for a fact 265/70/16 fits on a stock tacoma with no rubbing. Hopefully someone else can chime in for ya

Thanks! I will eventually post pictures of the finished product and maybe be able to help someone else out with this when it’s all over

I have a Rough Country 3" Suspension lift and Run 285/65/R18 with no rub or scrub. -14mm offset on Rims. This is on a 2019 Tacoma not sure of your year.

The 1.5" spacers do make a big difference though as far as scrub radius. I didn't rub hardly at all with 33's and a 3 inch lift, but added spacers and had to take a chunk out of the cab mount

I tried to make sure my offset was enough to avoid that. I do get scrub when i pull into the driveway to fast, that's it though. I did trim the splash shield or w.e they call them now on the bottom of the bumper about .5".

So I promised an update and I finally put the tires on so here goes nothing. For 285/75/16's I only had to clip off the inner fender liner up to about a foot and a half. I also trimmed the inside bottom corner of the flare back about two inches. 9CC408EB-2448-4F53-873C-D84712D15FD5.jpgC7C0A404-F3FA-4AAB-9118-0256440EEEE2.jpg
