Hey everyone! I though I would just share my experience with lifting my truck so you all can learn from it. I have done tons of research on this forum piecing together my first lift. I went Bilstein 5100s in the front and rear with OME 888 coils and heavy duty Dakars. I went with spc upper control arms. Also did the differential drop as well as a carrier bearing drop kit. I ended up with exactly 3 inches of lift up front and just over 3 inches in the rear.

I chose Cooper discoverer st maxx 285/70r/17 on Fuel Recoil wheels with a -6 offset. After I got the tires and wheels mounted I immediately found that there was very bad rubbing on the inner fender well where a mud flap would hang. It rubbed right away not even needing to turn in reverse. Needless to say I have to do a cab mount chop to fit these tires. I was hoping to not have to cut up my truck but with the amount of rubbing that is happening I don't see how I can avoid it. I'll be getting this done tomorrow and let everyone how it goes.

Here are some before and after pictures so you can all see how it looks.

Got the cab mount chop today and it went well. No more rubbing in the inner fender well. It wasn't my first choice and it still hurts a little that I cut up my new truck. You can see in the picture where the plate was welded and painted black. I might see what I can do to like maybe add a little Linex over where some of the cutting was. Just have to come up with something to put over it first. Overall I'm happy I did this and would do it again.

So, it you're planning on running 285's on a 3 inch lift there is a good chance you may have to do a CMC. I honestly have no idea how some people on here say they have no rubbing with 285's.

Here are some picture of what it looks like. They aren't the best but it's the best I could do with it being dark out. IMG_2526.jpg IMG_2527.jpg

Do you have any hub to fender measurements for the front?

What clip did you set on the 5100's for the 3" of lift. Looks great, thanks for the post.

What is your caster set at after alignment? Most shoot for +3 which moves the wheels forward, away from the cab to help minimize rubbing on the body mount.

Thanks! The shocks are set to 0, which is what is recommended when running them with coils. For a better ride let the coils do the lifting.

I'm not sure what it is set to off the top of my head. I ended up getting 275's, which actually fit and drive a lot nicer. 285's rubbed with any sharp turning or when off road even with the CBC. Thanks for the idea though I'll have to look into that.

These are ground to fender measurements right? What was your center wheel hub to fender measurements?

How are you liking this setup? I'm thinking of running it.

How's the drive on and off road?

In my opinion it rides really well. I've been really happy with the Dakars in the rear. As far as the 888 coils go.. I would not get them again. They have sagged about 1-1.5 inches. I've been looking into a different set up for the front. I would look into maybe the ome 886, which have a higher pound spring rate and might hold up better. Or just don't go with ome altogether...

Thanks for all the info, its very helpful!
That really sucks those coils sag that much, are you running a winch and bumper now that could have caused that?
I guess you are rubbing again?

Can I see a pic with the 275s now that it sagged? I was going to go with the 5100/888 combo for 285s but i'm reading a lot of posts about people sagging significantly.

I agree with OP, mine settled/sagged to 2.25ish inches. 81CA0686-3EB9-47B7-803E-E1797E145574.jpg731D0C49-3659-4E63-B440-BFEE5505945D.jpg
