Lift does not effect milage. Your tire size will.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
What is your purpose for the lift??? That is the question.

In general. If you want good off road trail and rock crawling performance get a solid 3" lift and good big tires.

If you want to look cool driving around town and have cash to burn then why not a 6" lift.

Why not just search and read those threads then?

6 inch requires frame modification. Much easier to go 3-6 than it is to go 6-3.

    This...

The 6" kits maintain stock geometry for the most part -- not enough reason to go with a drop bracket kit though! Take it from someone who had one and had to go through re-doing the stock cross member. Stick with a 3" lift!

Nothing wrong with installing a 6" kit if that's what you want. Def will keep your angles closer to stock versus a 3" kit. If you do decide to get a 6" I wouldn't get a rough country lift.

The procomp kit is actually better if you plan to offroad. It uses stock tie rod ends and the spindle design allows for easier CV axle swaps on the trail.

I still say go 3". And body lifts are terrible.

A 3 inch lift will cost about the same as a 6 inch lift. So how does that save money if he went with a 3?

Instead of going for the all in one stage two you can get better stuff for less money by piecing together your own stage 2.

Because he'd end up buying stuff twice going from a 6" back to a 3".

800 bucks for a spacer lift? That is severely overpriced, especially if you were to install yourself.

That's a good inference but I've ran ultra gauge tests on all my mods. I went from a 3" drop to a 2.5" lift and lost 1 mpg consistently every tank. Its a larger object pushing through the air. City mileage will be unaffected but at highway speeds there is a noticeable difference. It can be dampened by belly panels to make the bottom smoother. Ultimately a air dam (like on most new trucks) would nearly negate the effects by making the larger object smoother

But no one really does that because no one cares about a couple mpg. In short, lift does effect mpg.

It all depends on who you ask. I've had a number of customers who say their mileage went up after leveling kits. 2 1/2'' leveling kit with stock tires. Not a Tacoma though.

And going from 3'' drop to a 2.5'' lift is a big difference.
Op is asking about stock height to 3-6''. And the major difference is not from the lift but comes from the tires.

I think leveling could have to do with their being a proper rake for the most aerodynamic setup. And it is only essentially a 5.5" lift so if he goes with a 6" lift, he can expect to lose +-1 mpg. And i know it varies with everyone but I just wanted to illustrate that lift does effect mpg
