Just spent 4 hours reading, searching: nothing definitive! I am interested in the sensor that sends the ecu temp info for fuel injection. It's either at the back, or front, depending on the thread ;-] I'm leaning to the back, due to BamaToy's info on a 2.7, but I would like a definitive answer for the 3.4l! I will throw back a cool one in honor of the one who comes up with the location!!

There are two sensors for ECT on most Toyota trucks. One will have either a single wire, while the other will have 2 or 3 wires(depending on the model and year). The one with 2 or 3 wires goes to your ECU and is used for engine management. Look around the front top of the engine, driver side, behind the timing cover. It will be there. 2 wires for your truck I believe.

For the 3.4, Engine Coolant Temp sender (for ECU) is on the front of the lower intake, blue arrow 2 wires. Engine temp sender for the gauge is at the rear, red arrow 1 wire.

Would either one of these sensors be able to send a signal to an electric fan controller to engage the fan?

I remember being confused, as to removing the white plastic piece--it looks like it would be squeezed or something for removing. Nope, it just slides up and off.
