I have gotten a 2000 truck with a black trd boost gauge and I was unable to find photos or a thread about how to replace the light in the back of the gauge. Has anybody replaced the light in their trd gauge and if so, could you post some photos? Thank you

If it’s an original TRD type boost gauge, I don’t think you can. Mine is very dim and would benefit from a bulb replacement. Before I installed mine I was gonna do it until I saw there was no real way to take it apart to do it......3A55834A-97CF-42E3-B6A5-F538D513505E.jpg

Hmm, maybe it’s possible to paint the dial in the same kind of paint watches use for nighttime? This might only look good on the black faced ones though

I mean to make the white and orange paint on the dial glow at night with glow in the dark paint.

Oh.... I gotcha. But even still. You’d have to take it apart to paint it. If you could take it apart you could just change the bulb. Mine technically does work but it’s super dim.

yeah, makes more sense to replace the light if I can get it apart. do you know how to get the pillar mount off? Id rather not break the buttons that connect to the pillar as they are 19 years old now.

Ours are different. My pillar holds 2 gauges and the whole pillar comes off as a whole. Yours I believe is a mount that holds one gauge. I believe it is screwed into the pillar. Send me a pic.....

The TRD gauge is a mechanical gauge. Nice and simple. The AEM ones are electrical. If I didn’t find the rare TRD gauge I’d have all AEM’s

I always feel that a good old fashioned mechanical product is going to be outlasting a new digital one, especially since I could fix it if something breaks.

I replaced the light recently, it was a p161 I believe, gauge slid out of the pillar and the light came out with a counter clockwise turn. Pretty easy but the wires and vac wire went through the door rubber so I had to pull that out
