Hi, I recently upgraded my 2007 Access cab speakers to:
They are connected to a Boss BE10ACP and the sound is a big improvement. But the tweeter and its crossover are driving me nuts.

I bought the Kickers because they are rated 300-20,000 Hz and I figured I would not need the 150 microfarad capacitors that came with them. Won't the speakers just "ignore" the low frequencies?

If I use the capacitor, I'm not sure where to put it. Currently the Kickers are wired like this:

With the capacitor it seems like this would be the correct connection according to what I read:

But wouldn't that attenuate the low frequencies for the bottom speaker also?

I ran tests with the cap connected and not connected and couldn't really hear the difference so I left them out.

Which leads to my last question: are the speakers okay without the caps?

Lastly, this is my first post but I have been using TacomaWorld for a few years. The collective knowledge here is astounding. Thanks to all the contributors.

The JBL Club 620F is a full range speaker. I don’t recommend also installing the Kickers unless you swap them out with woofers. Ideally you select components that are designed to blend well. I don’t see how this can happen with budget speakers from different manufacturers that both handle most of the frequency spectrum and have wildly different sensitivity.

If a guy’s gonna do what a guy’s gonna do, the cap goes in series with the positive terminal of the speaker it is wired to. Not installing the cap will allow frequencies through that the speaker is not designed to reproduce causing, at the very least, distortion, and likely speaker failure eventually. It depends on the volume you drive it at.
