I’m not actually a new member. I have been lurking around since 2015. I’ve just never needed to ask a question until now. I bought my 2013 Tacoma Prerunner V6 TRD Sport in 2015. It had about 27,000 miles on it. It already had a chrome push bar and side bars. It is my perfect truck. It needed nothing and I have done nothing to it regular maintenance and a brake job at 96,000 miles. Truck now only has 110,000 miles. It’s almost broke in! But yesterday a minor accident left my passenger side tail light broken. I done want to replace just one side because I think the other one would look weathered. So I need to replace both. Should I cough up the money to replace them with OEM? Or should I go with after market? If so, which after market?

If you are already worried about one looking "different" than the other, you might want to go OEM.
Aftermarket will look weathered in about 3 years.

    Me? I could care less.
    I'm going with aftermarket.

I had to replace a cracked one on my 2014 recently. It was an OEM original. I replaced it with OEM. You can't tell the difference between the new one and the other original. I purchased it from a local dealer through the Toyota parts web site and selected free pick-up at dealership. Shop around a few dealerships, the prices can vary by quite a bit. I ended up paying $156.40 plus tax. List price is: $216.79 It comes with the bulbs and wiring harness. There is a big Toyoya parts warehouse a couple of towns away from me and I had it the next day.

I have an OEM set that I may be willing to sell if you'd be interested. I'll have to dig through my garage and check to make sure they're in decent shape.

Just 5 days ago I accidentally jack knifed the trailer and broke one taillight, I ordered this cause it was cheap and quick, it looks like factory. Only thing I noticed was the reverse bulb wasn't as bright but I put the old lights reverse bulb in and the brightness matches side to side now.

Mostly stock, just getting it to my liking, just happy to have had the taco and now my 4Runner.
I am planning to replace mine with a set of aftermarket blackout led, mine are 2015 prerunner oem, I can take pics if interested, no damage that I can think of.

You can try getting some oem looking taillights from headlight depo. I bought mine from there, no problems after 3 years.

Thanks for all the reply’s. I ended up ordering a set of aftermarket taillights from A1 Auto Parts. They look exactly like the OEM. Took 10 minutes to change them out. Work perfectly.

I have DEPO smoked LED. Why? Because the headlights are smoked TRD. So it matches.

That would be cool if there was something else. Far as I'm aware there isn't. Because every other option appears like dogshit.

Would be great if they looked good, to make them considerable. For example, see aftermarket tail options for the 3rd gen. Some of them look pretty good, and better, which is the point. Especially at their price point.

Compare to DEPO smoked. Looks better. Very low cost comparatively.
Only other option is used incandescent. Used LED. Both OEM.

One thing to note. OEM incandescent is said to be able to make brighter than OE LED, by putting the highest model DD bulb. Which adds cost.

Me personally I don't rely on my tail lights for sole braking. If I did, that would matter more. Because I have aux brake lights. These can be added to a stock bumper, or steel HC
