Got my paint for the hood and roof from them in spray cans. Just beware that you have to watch for buildup where the spray seems to collect on the recessed can top and if you don't keep a rag to wipe it off alot drips will get into your job. Told them about the spray nozzle not being high enough to clear the spray can lip (of lip too high maybe a new can they went to) but NO response so............ perfect paint match. You can get the primer and clearcoat there also so all works together.

 

So 040 Super White was the only color that carried through all of the Gen 2 production, then?

How many cans did it take of the paint and also of clear to paint and clear coat the hood and roof on yours? Did you use the 2k clear or the cheaper clear coat?

 

Bought 5 cans of each but 4 coats paint and 5 clear only used 4 cans each. Have the others for other areas as needed.
Used the cheaper high gloss clearcoat 9.95 as doing inside no respirator mask. Got the spray can handle , used 1 two oz bottle of prep solvent and tac clothes, and then a clearcoat pen for other areas as I touchup. I spray some paint on cardboard then use small brush for dents/chips around truck then use that clearcoat pen (or color does not match).
The final step after like 2 days drying is full buff out and mine is too slow so you really need a multispeed with the form head and spend some serious time on it. I was not that good so color matches perfectly but the final coat is slightly dull (more buffing later).Did sand down then dent fill in on front of hood and a full roof spots, followed by a serious prime (have to do the bondo spot areas really well sand and prime so they don't show thru the paint). Then another full sand. Sanding was a messy and dusty job. I pulled the hood spray nozzles ot but on roof only taped off shark fin antenna as looked new. At rear of roof I did a blend in and looks OK down to bottom of roof stop lamp. Pro shops pull off the bed and paint the whole area by rear window down below the bed. Its 10 years old so only did the major clearcoat/paint peeling.

If you have a compressor I would buy (if doing it again I would) a mid grade like $75 spray gun and done that and bought a better buffer.
Takes a whole day to do all the coats with drying time between as well as mask and tape.
