    I can check tomorrow on a 2UR-GSE.

I found this image of a 2UR-FSE online that has a 1UR stamp on it.

Interesting, any idea what the "4" means? Mine has a 5 on it.

No clue. Cant find any info on it. Maybe its just signifying which mold it came out of, lol.

It’s almost certainly which mold it came out of.

The GSE heads definitely won’t be the same. The 2UR-FSE probably won’t be either.

I haven’t looked anything up but I suspect if anything the car 1UR and 2UR heads may be the same and the truck 1UR and 3UR heads would be the same. But maybe not.

    I’ll check later.

Well I think I lined it up pretty good. Going to take another day off tomorrow and shoehorn it in! Clears everything quite nicely. Radiator and fan are about 3/4 inch apart from each other.

Exciting stuff, looks great as it's coming together.

You're going to confuse some people into thinking Toyota had a 4.6L option for the truck, lol, since it's going to look like it belongs in there.

I don't know if you're still working on this AC issue... and I'm unaware of what the exact purpose of these signals is in this application. But I have a lot of experience interfacing electronics that weren't designed to be interfaced with each other.

This totally looks like something I'd tackle with a cheap little microcontroller, like an Arduino. Compared to the complexity of the rest of your project, this would be quite straightforward, assuming you only need to deal with analog or digital/pwm signals (vs. interface with a bus)... if you can articulate what you want it to do, then it is easy to make the microcontroller do that. Sometimes you need to add in extra parts to convert between voltages, but it's pretty easy to figure out, and also easy to breadboard it to see if it works. Once you have a solution, you can design a little circuit board and solder together a permanent solution. A bit on the time-consuming side, but ultimately a convenient way to interface old and new electronics, or create new functionality that wasn't there.

Ultimately yes, I will need all the help I can get to setup the coolant temp signal. The guys have been awesome on here and have located which pin I need to tap into on the ECU for rpms. The climate controls have been put on pause until the engine is in. Thank you for your willingness to help out! I will get in touch with you when the time comes.

All the 2UR heads in the USA are direct injection and have electronic/motor adjusters for the intake VVTi. Both the FSE and GSE heads will bolt to the various blocks, but the timing covers are different, mainly due to the intake VVTi adjusters.

I’m running (or will be) a GX460 Koyorad aftermarket stock replacement radiator in my 3rd Gen. There’s a thread around here with a pic… was planning to buy OEM Lexus, but this unit looks decent enough. OEM Lexus is now surprisingly inexpensive.

Why would you do that? Inlet & outlet are on opposite sides vs the Tacoma

Supercharged. Coolant ports exist that send coolant the to the proper side.

Pick up the oil filter cap from a Lexus IS-F/RC-F 2UR-GSE part # 15620-38030. It will allow the long oil filter from the 5.7 to fit.

I had some extra time today after bolting in the engine. I got the front kings mounted, still waiting on the front secondary shocks but I have plenty of things to keep me busy right now. I scored a new take off sway bar for 50 bucks with links off of a 3rd gen. Its sitting tall right now.

I also wanted to add that those are GX460 steering knuckles which shouldn't have sway bar holes due to gx460 KDSS and 3rd gen Tacoma sway bar mounted up just fine.

Lower oil pan and front diff clearance is right on the money.
