What did you swap your taco with and how difficult was it?

Like any new modern engine swap in a vehicle, a standalone system will be required. The difficulty will be the same no matter what engine you swap in, as you'll be wiring it from scratch. The only difference between engine swaps would be the physical space to fit in the engine bay. Time and money are your two biggest factors when considering the swap.

Toyota to Toyota swap isn’t impossible. But wiring and mounts are definitely needed.
I mean 93mr2s have damn near plug and play 3.5l swaps from siennas now.

The Toy to Toy swap would be easier for sure. I wonder what engine would be worth putting in a 2G Taco that comes from Toyota factory specs worth it. IMO adding forced induction, or an adiabatic diesel engine would be the two I'd pursue if looking for that much work to increase power.

The 4.7 is likely an fairly easy swap with the 4runner mounts existing. Wiring wise the issue is always body side. The engine harness itself will do everything, body integration and fuse block integration is where custom wiring comes in.

Lexus ls500 3.4 TT v6 comes to mind. The taco 6 speed should bolt up to it. But that’s a lot of fab work to fit the plumbing for the turbos and stuff, but again, the wiring side wouldn’t be as scary as people assume

This is true, forgot about that lexus engine. Alot of Toy sensors are the same and the connectors are also similar and possibly even the same if you do a side by side of the schematics. The real work comes into fitting the damn thing and drivetrain modifications. Turbo plumbing is also fun, it's always easier to build new than to retrofit, I've learned that from being a son of a plumber for the last 30 years LOL

Reliable almost 500hp v6 taco sounds like a hoot though don’t it?

LS Swap with RSG Tranzilla, Custom hi clearance front bumper, Relentless: Slider's, bed rails, rear bumper, Prinsu with 40" BD s8. Dirt Designs 3.5 LT. Archive Garage rear towers/shackle flip/SUA. King Air bumps. King LT Coilovers in front. King 12x2.5 in rear. ARB rear air locker and twin compressor. SCS f5's with 33" Ridge Grapplers. 20" S8 mounted in bumper, squadron sport fog lights, squadron pro backup lights, LP6's bumper mounted.
LS3. cost alot to get a 6.2 aluminum block to keep the weight down and also kept it a manual which made the cost prohibitive for alot. overall the swap wasn't bad just had alot of trial and error parts and configurations.

Impressive. I respect the LS engines. But they hate me! Viable option if someone is looking for power on the cheap (vs Toyota options)

There was a guy that swapped the 4.7 into a 3rd gen 4runner on the T4r forum.
