Replaced stock radio with a Pioneer AVH series head unit. Focal component system w/a 10" sub powered by 2 Alpine amps. Weathertech floor mats. Line-X'd the bed. SCS Ray 10’s, Installed an A.R.E. Awesome! The potential of these engines are incredible. I'd like to get a 1975 280Z and install a 2JZ in there....another thing for the bucket list:rolleyes:

    Good luck!

Be easy if your a prerunner.

However you have the wrong tranny. So that sucks.

2jz bolts right up to a tacoma r150 with a r154 bell housing.

Then it's just custom motor mounts. $1200 wiring harness. New drive shaft. Figure out the intercooler.

    Not too hard.

    The Bed is stock...ish
He could build his own harness way cheaper. But 1200$ might be a drop in the bucket after he collects all the parts he needs for the 2jz. Those motors are really expensive...

    It's about a 4-6k swap.

Id buy the new harness. Converts is to plug n play with the current harness so all accessories work as normal and puts a OBDII port in it as stock. Worth it for a clean install to me.

Hey man, I've been doing some research for the same project and the 2jz-gte bolts up to the w59 manual transmission with a bell-housing from a w58. Someone correct me if I'm wrong What transmission do you currently have?

Will a new plug n play harness really make a JDM 2jz work with stock OBDII on a 1st gen? would it be running the stock tacoma Ecu? I am also planning this build for the near future but not really sure how the wiring aspect of this build would work

Yes and no. You can run a 2jz off a 5vz motor ecu. By tacoma harness I mean the cab harness for all the accessories and yes it'll work with the obdII port.

    http://www.tweakdperformance.com/on...in_page=product_info&cPath=23&products_id=102

    I wouldn't run the w59 personally on a 2jz. R series is much stronger.

Would a r151f be a direct bolt on replacement to the w59 in terms of mounting it to subframe, connecting it to transfer case, and shifter components? and by chance will a 3rz ecu run a 2jz, or what are my ecu options if i want to keep obdII and cab internals wokring. could i use the stock jdm aristo ecu(which most engines come with) on the trucks stock internals/obdII port. My end goal here is to have a CA legal swapped 2jz in my 95.5 2.7L tacoma. almost impossible by the looks of it, i am in no rush however

Dude the only ecu that runs a 2jz...is a 2jz ecu.

Click the link I posted. It'll intergrate the cab harness perfectly. Just gotta pay for it.

    An r151 bolts to a 2jz with a r154 bellhousing.

Custom motor mounts, tranny mounts and crossmembers will need fabbed. No matter what. And custom drive shafts.

If your 4wd you'll need a rear sump oil pan too.

Fitting the radiator is impossible with a mechanical fan too.

IIRC an A340E auto trans will also bolt to a 2JZ, atleast that's what I read on the supra forums

Yes it will. An a340a is used in supras.

Just possibly stepping into this arena... and I have a few questions I need answered without digging through 30 pages of someone else's build thread.

W59 won't bolt directly on i take it... but what kind of work will it take?! Or is it just easier to swap to a different one? I am 2wd and wanna stay that way.

Also... I see 1000s of mount kits to swap a 2jz-gte... is the ge mounting any different?

And finally... all the harness links seem to be dead... anyone know where to find it?!

Long story short... I might have just had an IS300 dropped into my lap with a solid engine... so I have pretty much a complete donor car if I'm gonna do this.

Just get an r tranny. W59 is lame

Ge vs GTE mounting wise is the same.

I personally don't think it's worth it for a GE engine...but have at it.

contact tweak'd performance for a harness. They have done it in the past, it's not on their site anymore but they will do it. Probably be around 1800 bucks for that alone.
