So today I started the process, of swapping in a Volkswagen turbo diesel into my 08 Tacoma.PXL_20230727_164731389.jpg PXL_20230728_012347586.jpgI was able to find a 06 Jetta with 166000 miles on the odometer, which is nothing to these engines.

    Step two.

PXL_20230728_234530943.jpgI don't really know what I'm doing, so I figure it best I lable everything clearly.PXL_20230728_234558037.jpg
It's to damn hot. Going to get the transmission separated. And hopefully get the motor on an engine stand tomorrow so I can start working in the garage.

Today I got the head completely torn down, camshaft and lifter are completely toast. But that's what I was told. Stage two camshaft is on the way.PXL_20230801_005735752.jpg PXL_20230801_005739315.jpghad a bad glow plug and a good amount of carbon on cylinder one. Which makes sense as the lifter was completely worn through. Got the head clean and tomorrow I will lap the valves. PXL_20230802_002151734.jpg PXL_20230802_002147479.jpgpistons and cylinder walls look good, I can still see cross hatch all the way around on all four, going to drop the pan clean it out and and call the bottom end good. PXL_20230801_014214870.jpgi will be sending the ECU to Kerma TDI to get the immobilizer delete done this week, and start on the wiring harness once this block is cleaned up. I really need to get a parts cleaner for all the small stuff but for now it's Rubbermaid for the win.

Ok it's been a little while, when using a self-centering drill bit on a broken bolt an aluminum part of the bit fell off and into an injector hole on the cylinder head :anonymous::anonymous:PXL_20231029_150938889.jpg PXL_20231029_160911156.jpgfirst I ordered some arp head studs but after a wait got the wrong ones. So I continued the retrieval process. After about another hour I got it out.

Then I got all the injectors dialed in to spec. And got the rest of the head put back together.PXL_20231029_202130229.jpggot the timing set and everything up top sealed up. Then I got the turbo broken down and cleaned and lubed really well.PXL_20231029_233837206.jpgim about ready to order my adapter plate. And get the wiring done. Hoping to fire the engine up on the stand in a couple weeks. Need to order a oil pan the one that came out of the car has a jb weld patch job on it:notsure:.

I wouldn’t mind throwing an old Chevy 6.2 in mine. Loved those. Super easy to work on, and they’re worthless to people.

can’t wait to see this one done up!

So it's been a bit since I got any work done, I gernaded my rear diff
PXL_20231126_220117638.jpgbut I've been needing to get a locker installed anyways, fortunately I did it thanks giving weekend and got Cyber Monday deals on new parts, diff rebuilt and put back in. Then I had to hook up an old air tank to my air. Another job I have been slacking on.PXL_20231231_202414828.jpg PXL_20240101_233411605.jpgim pretty happy with my air line and electric management, the air line is wrapped in an old 1/4 hose that was leaking then cheap wire loom from harbor freight. I got two pressure switches on the system for safety redundancy. Feeling good about it

The BRM is a 1.9 I picked it because they are say to find with lower mileage than an ALH and it's quite a bit easier to hit that 200-220 hp mark. I'll probably be close with just the cam, tune and intake/ exhaust.

Ok it has been a while since I've updated, after doing a trail cv replacement, I took my truck to Texas tires for an alignment then put it straight on a trailer and moved to Colorado. I drove the truck for about three weeks thinking they did a horrible job on the alignment. I finally checked out what was going on. They didn't even tighten my tire rods down. So guess who had to go through the front end and replaced all my ball joints and bushings :spending: definitely my fault for not putting eyes on it sooner.

Currently working on a design for a flat bed. Going to cut about 12" off the rear end. On the note while the truck has no truck bed I'm thinking about doing a patina. What do y'all think?PXL_20240706_124913157.MP.jpg

So it's been a long time since I have updated, I have been slacking a bit since my move. But I have gotten some work donePXL_20240918_011724551.jpgi got my pho-patina to a point where I feel comfortable it will progress naturally. And I have started my flat bed, I cut 10" off the rear end and increased my departure angles quite a bit PXL_20240909_002205155.jpgtoday I got the frame for the bed started and leveled, I need to get to a tube bender to do the roll bar and fenders next.
