    Howdy,

Thinking I am going to move up to the 265/75r16 KO2ss on stock suspension but am having trouble telling from pictures whether the size increase will leave enough room for chains. Anyone have experience with these using chains?

    Thanks,
    B.

I have the same tire size in Kumho AT51, no rubbing anywhere even at full lock. I haven't had chains on yet, but I still have plenty of room in the wheelwells, so I don't see why they wouldn't fit. However I think the KO2's may be slightly larger...

Also I'm running Spidertrax 1.25" spacers..

So I have never used chains on my Tacoma. I know the new 2016s actually sit around an 1inch higher then the previous Gen.

265/75R16 fits on stock suspension on the old Tacoma and the new one so one would think with it sitting a little higher you would be close to clearing with chains on the up size.... Chains will probably add another 1/4 inch to the overall diameter (assuming the chain is about 1/8th thick)

Even with stock size tires you can't run chains on the front wheels - it's mentioned in the manual. There is not enough clearance between the tire and the UCA for chains. Just a heads-up.

Thanks Henrik. I missed that in the manual so I'll have to re-read. Was definitely concerned about the front even with stock sizes so that makes sense.

Would love to hear if anyone has experience running chains on rears with 265/75r16 though!

First, true, and it depends upon the style of chain, as some require more clearance than others.
Second, the UCA to tire clearance is the issue, even with 255/85/16's.
Third, wheel spacers are a necessity when putting them on the front, I use MODA 1-1/4" with 255's, and have 3 and 2 wheeled with them so they are plenty strong, but I have not jumped them.
Fourth, wheel spacers wreck your front geometry, and will drastically shorten the lifespan of your front tires, especially on twisty roads, straight roads not so much.
Note: use some anti-seize on the ID of the spacer as they can be a bear to remove.

They are not very forthcoming with actual information in the manual. They only briefly say to only run chains on the rear. They could have mentioned why.

No experience yet. Just bought a set to get ready for El Niño ;-)
