Which do you have and why? I just got my taco with 265/70r16's and they look fine for now since no lift, but I have a feeling after a 2-2.5" inch they would have a "pizza cutter" look to them. And looking at the tire comparison on here, 265/70r16 vs 265/75r16, and the little difference between the two, leads me to believe if I had a 265/75r16 with a lift it would produce a similar look.

But then again there's a lot of cons with 285's. Mainly less MPG and the addition of wheel spacers, which both are kinda costly as a college student. I think I like the look the 285's would give a little more, but I would be able to live with 265's if they didn't look too small (I don't like much space between tire and truck to say the least). Tires I'm planning on getting for now are the Falken Wildpeak A/t3w (or duratracs/ko2 if I go 265's), if it matters. What do yall think?

And yes I know there's threads on this, and I've literally probably read all of them and have been going over this question in my head for at least two weeks now.

    Check Build thread
I went with the 285s... didn’t notice much of a power loss etc. Fuel mileage from the beginning wasn’t super great ever since I got the truck..

Make sure you go with hub centric wheel spacers (spidertrax etc)

I wheeled the ever living piss out of my truck with 32s. There is a substantial difference in the amount of cutting you're gonna have to do with 33s. First time I wheeled after switching to 33s I was scrubbing fender on every line. My MPG dropped about 1-2 miles. You don't *need* wheel spacers with 33s if you get the proper wheels, but you will have to get new wheels. I don't like wheel spacers and never will recommend them... they're a cheap way of getting clearance and eventually you'll get new wheels anyways. Just go with 32s, get a little bit of armor, and you'll be happy.

I ran 32" duratracs when I had them. Loved them. Worked just fine in just about everything, much to my surprise. I only got stuck twice and both of them were me being an idiot and playing around in sloppy mud. I have KO2s now and have yet to really test them the way I did with the duratracs.

Not many pics of me wheeling it on my photobucket. But this was basically how my truck was set up in college. It was a blast.

Oh and you don't have to worry about breaking CVs with 32s. Just romp on the throttle, it'll be fine.

You may also want to consider 255/85/16's. I love mine, and only had to hammer the pinch weld up front

265!!!! I've ran 265/70, 285/75, And now I'm on 265/75 ko2 and love them. No cutting required. I've got 881 so I've got about 2.5 in lift. I tried 285 and the scrubbed so bad I took them off after 2 days and went 265. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the advice yall. Probably going with the 265's lol

edit - this is a very dumb question and I've looked it up but still confused. Is there a way to take the white letters off tires or do you literally just flip them inside out to not show letters?

Just mount them with the white in and black letters out

Wouldn't the white letters be visible still to some extent that way though?

If you bend down and look under the truck for them. Other than that they're hardly noticeable especially after they get dirty from driving for a few months

I went to a 265-75-16 ko2 with no lift and rubbed on my pinch/mud flap while turning and going over bumps. (wheels are 16x8 w/ 0 offset or 4.5"bs) Recently lifted the truck and in my opinion, the tires looked a little small. Certainly not a bad look, but a bigger tire would LOOK better in my opinion. So while I was working at DTC, I got a super deal on some 285-75-16 General X3 tires (15lbs more per tire than the ko2) I've been driving on these for over a week now. As far as throttle/braking/turning...really no difference. However as far as torque, well you loose some. I did try to go up a steep hill in 2wd (which I felt like I totally could have done with my ko2s) began to spin, and required 4wd to conquer it. I went on a road trip this past week (about 1100 miles) and averaged about about 15mpg @75mph, & about 18mpg at 60mph. Not that all of this matters, just trying to give you as much information as I can lol as far as rubbing with the 285's, I rub less with them now than I did with 265's (with no lift) - wheel specs will determine that for you. I haven't touched my pinch weld yet & I did do some mild off roading. I can provide pictures if you would like to see the difference :)

    I've got 265/75 a/t's.

This is an old pic, but it still basically looks like this. When first starting out wheeling, it's not about the suspension, or the tires, or the lockers, or on-board air or trail armor, or whatever else some company is trying to sell you. Just take your truck and wheel the crap out of it. The more you drive it, the more your skills will improve, and the more you'll figure out what mods/suspension/tires will work best for you.

The 265/75's will require minimal mods (no trimming) and if you have the 5100's you can put them mid way up and they won't rub. 33's will likely rub like nuts even on the 2.5" setting at will require some trimming. Don't keep lifting it until it doesn't rub, though. For wheelin' you want a minimum of lift to fit your tires (lower center of gravity).

It all depends on what you're going for OP. If you're trying to have a dick measuring contest with the other mall crawlers on campus then get 33s, but if you want off road function with limited headache get 32s, and tell all those mall crawling chevy's with 37s to keep up and stop being scared little nannies. Speaking from experience. 32s are PLENTY capable.

I have run 265/70/16, 275/70/16, 255/85/16, and 265/75/16. Out of them all I feel like the 265/75/16 is about the best do all size. I am running a 265/75/16 KO2 right now and with 20k on them I am very impressed with the wear, ride, and off road ability when compared to the KO's they replaced. My next set of tires will more than likely be a 255/85/16 again " I loved the extra ground clearance and they pulled hard as long as you didn't high centered".
I have bilstein 5100's on the front set on the top setting with a Toytec AAL in the rear. Here is a picture of my truck as it sits now.

I think I'm starting to lean more towards the 265's after reading yalls replies, thanks everyone!

I feel like there's gotta be another method. I see what you're saying but for example, going through the duratracs thread on the wheels and tires section, I see plenty of trucks with their tires all black. Even the insides. I'm pretty sure the lettering is completely not there, not just dirtied up. I may be wrong though

Some tires have white letters on one side, and some have no white letters at all
