    Honestly I like the feeling of driving around on E’s better, even on the street. They are definitely a tougher tire. I had several plugs in my C-rated K02s by the time they wore out. Not so much as a slow leak on the E-s and they feel more planted. The weight down low is a good thing offroad as well.

    Yeah for sure, just wishing for that perfect unicorn size that nobody makes.

    Whomever releases it first is gonna make a killing, I would think.

    ^If there are two tires in that size, is it still a unicorn? :p

    Turns out they're relatively inexpensive too at $220 a tire.

    I don't understand why a 33 10.5 r16 doesn't exist. You can get a 33 by 10.5 in a 15 and 17 inch tire but not 16. A 265/80R16 would be awesome too.

    I’ve got a 2021 TRD sport. Wanting to put 275/70/17 on there. From the research I’ve done, I’ll probably need 2” lift to front. Considering the TRD lift kit. Reagardless, those that have 275’s, how’s it working out? Rubbing? Mpgs? Driving difference? Also what wheels do you have? Pictures appreciate. Thanks!

    275/70/17 bfko2 / no rubbing

    Tires are heavier. You feel it when braking, and some MPGs loss. Overall an improvement. I like the 275/70/17 size, though dream of 265/75/17

    IMG_20221027_162423449.jpg IMG_20221027_162400240.jpg I have the 5100s on the 4th setting and a 1 inch block in the rear.I ran 265/70/17 SL TOYO OC AT2s on the TRD 4Runner SEMA wheels and have about 30k miles on the truck now. I finally got tired of waiting and trying to find a light 275/70 or hoping for a 265/75/17 or a 265/80 and I believe GoodYear makes a 265/75/17 but they are heavy as crap and expensive. So I just had a new set in SL rated light 46 lbs. Toyo OC AT3s in 285/70/17 installed and they fit perfect. I tried a dozen or so times backing and turning sharp and gor a slight rub on the front guard on the pass. side now solved. All I did was loosen the bottom hole and slid the guard back some. I have about 3/4 inch at the closest points between the tire and the guard. I have the new KDMAX Pro tune and I can barley tell any loss of power. My tuner is calibrating the speedometer hopefully today and then I'm done. I just got tired of searching and yea I'm a fan of Toyo and Nitto tires. In fact I even tried the Terra Grappler G2s and drove home and just was not liking them so I returned them to the tire store and had the Toyos installed.

    That's with a LIFT, I take it?

    Any other changes that had to be made to prevent rubbing?

    I'm curious...the additional weight of each tire does make a difference in my decision.

    A true lift, using longer springs, does not prevent rubbing, as the wheel still cycles all the way up into the wheel well, under compression, as before the lift.

    If you have a “spacer lift”, you prevent full wheel travel, which may stop things from rubbing.

    I have a true lift, via longer springs, and have no rubbing. If I removed those springs and put the stock ones back in I would still have no rubbing.

    I hope that makes sense.

    @Stocklocker

    If...and that's a Big "IF"...I ever decide to go with a lift, I would pay to have it done at a reputable shop.

    I have a coworker friend who already directed me to such a shop in Maryland--he was baiting me to get hydraulic side steps! lol ("NO WAY", I said)

    It's very pricey but if I EVER plan to do A "lift" or any major mod, I'd want a warranty from the shop doing the work.

    Your explanation about "long springs" and a "spacer lift" sounds like something I wouldn't dabble with--I sometimes don't have the patience in doing certain work on my Sport. lol

    How much you willing to spend? Could easily throw some components together at work. But the molds are like 100 grand or something crazy :popcorn:

    255/75R17 is a common Jeep size so a ton of options are available. Perfect for a midsize truck really.

    Yes. I have just under 2” of lift all around with the factory rake maintained (1” higher in back than front, unloaded).

    @Lawfarin

    Were you talking to me about how much I'd be willing to spend?

    I could put a number out there but it's really not crucial to reveal that amount.

    I'm keeping my Sport set up just the way it is for the time being.

    As my tires age with miles put on them, I'll have to get a new set of 4.

    I still want to keep the same street ride quality I have on my current set up--not looking for anything that would create unneccesary noise.

    Right now, spending lots of money on wheels and tires is not a critical thought I intend to do.

    I'd keep the OEM wheels and buy a quality tire a little bit bigger than what's on it (265/65/R17) and go up to 265/70/R17.

    I enjoy this site for the pride people show in what they've done to their Tacomas.
