I am ready to order tires. I have been looking since I bought the truck. No matter what I look at, I always end up wanting BFG KO2's. I am looking for opinions from those who have them on 16in rims with stock suspension. I am not concerned about rubbing issues. I want honest opinions about stiffness and mpg drops. Are these things really affected that bad? 2nd gen owner's opinions are welcome also. I have posted this here instead of "tires and wheels" section because I am sure there is a lot more traffic here. Thanks for the info for which I am hopefully about to receive.

Do you want it to ride like a tank?

Load range E over here w/ ko2 it's definitely a stiffer ride. Mpg couldn't tell you, I have had 265/75/16 ko2 the day I left dealer.

265/75/16 KO2. Suspension is stock. I didn't have and decrease in mpg going to the 10ply from stock tires, no increased noise, waaaaaay better traction over stock crap. I keep mine at 34psi cold, I remember them feeling slightly less smooth but can't tell anymore. No rubbing. Sweet tires. Do it buddy!

A single E rated 265/75/16 K02 is rated for a load that is 500 lbs less than the curb weight of the entire truck.

If you don't need E rated, don't get it. They're stiff, heavy, and expensive.

My FIL has a 2006 GM crew cab, long bed, 2500 HD Duramax and his E rated tires make it ride like a piece of shit.

265/75/16 KO2 on stock suspension as well (2nd gen). Took a little MPG hit but nothing I wasn't prepared for. I like the ride more than the crap dunlops that were on it when I bought it.

I can promise you I do not want the tires because they are E load, I just like the tires. It is very hard to find a tire worth a crap for a 16in rim that is not E load.

Someone has their rose covered glasses on...

OP, you will get the same answer as all the other threads asking the same question, nothing has changed with the physics or acoustics of a heavier more aggressive tire. Noise will go up, handling, ride and mpg will go down.

I couldn't accelerate on a wet road without the back end slipping out with stock tires. Handling is BETTER. in all conditions. I can hear the tires if I drive 5mph with the windows down next to a curb to bounce the noise back, otherwise I don't hear them at all. I went with a lighter rim but the heavier tire. Mpg didn't change at all. You can only get this tire in this size in 10 ply from what I remember.
Not having to worry about what you're driving on..... worth it.

Gotta do it. I disagree with you. I said it.. you don't need e rated, they are heavy however I had load C before and went to E and find it isn't any stiffer. They are heavy and expensive though. I average the same 18 mpg that I did before them. No they are not noisy. I had same concerns and am not disappointed at all. Let's see how long they last though

I was going through this same research and ended up going with Wildpeaks. Even on these, which are stock size and P rated, I took about a 2 mpg hit and they weigh 42lbs. I imagine E load would have been more.

Alright. Went from 245/75/16 dunlops got ~20 mpg, hit 24 once. Got Cooper AT3 265/75/16 load C and it's hung around ~18 mpg. Got KO2 265/75/16 and at ~18 mpg. Same truck, virtually unmodified between each set of tires

I don't care about noise. I can live with 2mpg loss. I guess my biggest concern is I don't want to feel like I am riding around in a empty dump truck. I have several sets of these in the past but they were on half ton trucks. I never noticed much of a difference at all on half tons.

I went with the C rated KO2. The ride is pretty good and I don't really notice much Hwy noise. A big improvement over the Dunlop's that were on it. Loss in mpg's seems to be minimal.

Those are what I really want but I would have to spend the extra money on new rims which I am trying my best to avoid doing.
