So I didn't get around to scheduling my 25k mile until I hit 27,000 miles. The lady told me I had to pay like $30 since I was over 1000 miles beyond the service mileage.

Sounds like the service is basically a tire rotation and then some fluid checks and stuff. I can get my tires rotated at the tire shop where I bought my tires for free and it's really close to my house. I can just do it quick over lunch. Otherwise, I gotta drop my car off at the dealer, which is much further away and take the shuttle and all that BS.

So, my question... is the fluid check and other stuff they do at the 25k service even worth it? Or would I be OK just getting the free tire rotation and skipping the 25k "maintenance"?

I only did the 10k and 20k free maintenance. The others are sunshine treatments.

I missed my first one and asked them is that ok??? They said “check your oil once and a while and we won’t have any problem with it”

I would skip it, but that's just me. Yes it is just a inspection check and rotate tires. I don't see how that could void you 3 year 36k warranty or if you bought a extended warranty. Just get proof you had it done is all.

I did the 5k, 15k, and 25k myself. Takes much less time than driving to the dealer and back. Don't forget to inspect that floormat! o_O

If an oil change worth interior plastics scratched go for it. No one cares about your car more than you do.

Just go to toyotaowners.com or get the app and put in that you did the tire rotation and fluid check.
I do this for my air filters. They wanted twice as much for 1 cabin filter as what I can get a two pack from Amazon for.
Side note: I would find another dealer. What if you were on vacation road tripping across the U.S. Are you just supposed to stop your vacation and take your truck in to the nearest dealer?

They're probably charging for the work now that it is past the free service duration (2 years or 25000 miles). Is that still the deal?

Read the fine print and all the details of that package, also add the time factor of having to take your truck in and having it and maybe you sitting for hours at the dealer while its being serviced. That should tell you if its worth it or not.

Right. I didn't even like it when it was free; you can change the oil in less time than it takes to drive to the dealer and back.

I let the dealership do the service for the first 45K miles to keep paperwork simple if any work is needed under warranty. The bumper to bumper warranty goes out to 60K. Essentially; I let them change my oil and yes its a bit expensive for “peace of Mind”. The dealer has never greased my drive shafts, I did the F&R dif, brake, and transfer case fluid at 30K.

That sucks... I got an invite from 1 of the 2 local dealers I get service from for a free oil change at my 25K service... went in @ 27.5K... they honored it and got a free oil change ta-boot. Still forgot to lube my drive-line again. Had to do that myself.

The 30K service is the expensive one... can ask for extended service agreement it's less than the cost of the 30K ... or do it all yourself. I already did my 30K @ 15K
included ALL oils.... my front diff was black. Transfer case you have to use the "special" Toyota gear oil@ $30/can.. ouch.
