Anyone have any experience with these tires? I drive on the highway mostly but do like to hit the trails on occasion... what kind of miles should I expect to get out of them?

I am at 12k and I just hit the first wear line. Overall i would say not bad but I would consider a more all terrain which is what I am looking for next. Most likely the ST maxx

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
On my second set. One of the hands-down best tires for serious trail crawling.
Relatively terrible on the street. And utterly worthless on pavement that is anything but bone dry.

If you need a trail tire, I can't recommend the KM2 enough. Supreme traction, even better durability (last set saw another 20K miles on sidewalls that were absolutely shredded from rocks). Fairly stiff, so airing down has to go pretty low.

If you're looking for a street tire, these are among the last ones you should consider. Very noisy, mediocre traction at best, no wet-weather capability, and you'll see roughly a 4mpg drop in fuel economy. And they don't last on pavement (~20k-30k).

I ran 255 KM2s and I loved them. Trails mainly when off roading, no trouble when I had to inevitably cross a mud hole, did well in the rain as well.

Go to tirerack plug in the size you want and read the reviews of various tires. I used to like the goodyear AT/S, had it on a couple of my old trucks, but it is out of production now in all but a couple of sizes. For mostly pavement with the odd excursion into the wilderness I would go with an AT with the most aggressive tread.

Some lift, some armor, some scratches..
My 255/85 KM2s are a dedicated offroad tire for me.. Excellent traction in the rocks, mud, and snow and a little extra ground clearance .. Not soo great on the street IMO.. Kinda loud, vey heavy, and with minimal siping traction on wet pavement leaves something to be desired..

They look BA though! And mpgs didn't suffer much, especially once you get them up to speed; low gears/speed they make the truck a bit sluggish.

My street tires are Treadwright Warden on Load D BFG AT casings, fwiw

I am currently running these tires in a similar size 235/80/R17 and I have been really happy with them. Mild offroading they did great. Highway noise is totally acceptable and these ST MAXX seem better than the two sets of Discoverer STs (I got 73K out of each 5 tire set!) that I used previously in 255/85/R16.
    I don't think you'll be disappointed!

I have 255/80-17 KM2, as they were on when I purchased it (rim is 17x9; described as pizza cutters).

For trails/mud/logs/roots/rocks, they are really good.

In the rain or wet weather, the KM2s are less than optimal and can be rather scary if you jump on the brakes or take a corner too fast.

I don't know any difference as far as MPG.

As far as road noise, I don't know any difference. I am not driving a Rolls Royce, so I am far from being concerned about road noise.

Sidewall is 3 ply and seems to be pretty tough: First wheeling trip while driving, I jammed a piece of wood between the bead and the rim. I only discovered this AFTER the trip and just before Discount Tire was about to rotate the tires. My other wheeling bud in an FJ scuffed his sidewalls on the Rubicon this last July and seemed to be maintaining air and no bulging.

When it is time to replace them, it will be a toss up between a wider KM2 or the Wrangler MT-R, and then to decide if 33" or 35"...
