Just wanted to let folks know you can fit 255/75r17 Goodyear Duratracs on 17x8 -10mm offset Level 8 MK6 wheels without a lift. It's a tight fit, but it works until you go decided to go with a lift.

Right after Wheels and Tires Installed:

there was no rubbing when going straight, but after you make a turn or hit a bump, it was all over...

    Some Trimming Required:

Starting with the front, you could tell, there is a lot that could be trimmed off. I used a Dremel for this task. After you trim the bumper, you might need to move the inner fender/bumper liner forward an inch where the mounting point is to achieve a little clearance.

For the rear portion of the front wheels/tire, you have to remove the factory mudflap and trim off that little lip portion.

    Finished Product:

After that, you should be rub-free and it will give you a little more time to save up some cash and decide what you want to do next.

How do you like the 255/75/17 set up? I am looking at the same tires with the 17" TRD SEMAs. I'd also install a 2.5" lift. I've been skeptical on how narrow the 255 is. Does it look awkward or is it unnoticeable?

I don't have a picture from the front or rear, but I think the width is fine on the Tacoma. I had the same setup on a 2005 Tundra before and it just didn't look right on it because of the size of the Tundra. I got the 255 because I will be using it for snow and ice next month in Central Oregon and with negative offset wheel, I think it looks great. I will try to get a pic of the front and rear sometime soon.

I have 255s. Not noticeable or awkward at all imo

I just picked up same wheels and tires for wife's truck. Thanks for this thread. Helped me on tire size choice.

Will you post some more straight on views to see what offset looks like?
