The 430 torqies sounds pleasing though.

I like the chevy/gmc twins but I just can't buy a domestic unless it had at least 10% off MSRP. I'm to scared the moment I do they go back to the old ways. Thats why I'm considering the pro I don't think they were ever readliy available under MSRP. And toyotas always had less incentives than the other brands. Since you don't need any offroad capability how about the ridgeline?

The trucks I've driven we all 390 ft/lbs...but headwind and hills had minimal effects on the auto trans. It might shift down one gear..but it is not revving at 3400 for miles.

I really like the GM twins..but I'm concerned about the reliability and resale. I think the power train is solid..but they are having major issues with the latest technology .

Z71 has a locker. Comes with towing package. Not sure about trail boss, but I would think it does?

EDIT: TB does have the same auto locker options.

Main reason I was comparing the two was the front locker and tire size. Frankly, in this day and age labeling something "off road" that can't fit 35s with minor mods is rediculous. Also I don't like all of toyotas crawl control electronic bs. I'd prefer a front locker. For me the resale of the Toyota, and the mark ups on the zr2 are what made me put a deposit on a Toyota. But it was a close decision.

I like the fact that GM got their big torque numbers without adding the hybrid complexity. Toyota's approach of adding hybrid just for power with no real benefit to gas mileage kind of baffles me. The only thing I can think is that hybrid design is a steppingstone to a planned future enhancement that will provide both power and economy. Perhaps their solid-state battery is the key to that next step.

The auto locker is part of a package or 2 for about $1300 based off of my research. I guess if you don't have the towing package C&D might be correct?

The WT has the option as well.

A real manufacturer just has the paint come off in a carwash. Scrubs.

that's more perception than reality. reliable? yes you could say that, mostly, especially the early gens. bulletproof? nah, far from it. the reference to turd gen is real and deserved.

at this time i would be very cautious of a 4G tacoma. i know some are jumping in with both feet but, to use your word historically, at least as it applies to the 3G and the latest tundra, the first year or two have had their share of problems.

i would lean toward the chevy colorado if i had to buy a truck next year and my choices were a tacoma or colorado.

i would give the nissan a hard look if i were you.
