This might be a fun thread. What 4th Gen new features to do think might appear or you are hoping for in future 4th Gen years?

I’ll start, I would like to see a rear window that fully lowers like the Tundra.

I generally don't think too many new things will arrive. I think it will be more of a shift in option packages and colors to different models.

And pricing will change of course.

I’ve got a strong feeling the 4th gen will be the longest lasting gen of them all, tnga-f platform/global. I thinks there at least a decade of improvements on this platform

Guessing the gimmicky Pro seats will become an option or disappear completely.

Mainly convenience features that would be simple to implement. Everything else about the truck is great.

    • Walk away locks
    • Lock doors with engine on
    • Key ring hole on card key
    • Rain sensing wipers
    • Seat / mirror memory
    • Window lower with remote by default
    • LED turn signals
    • More manly tow and tie downs in red

    Now the unrealistic wish list
    • Louder turbo whistle :anonymous:
    • Break options out of expensive packages
      • Integrated air pump
      • SofTex seats
      • Real skid plates
      • Prewired AUX switches
    • 1” larger stock tires
    • 2” more rear leg room

Maybe rear defrosters will finally be standard.

Ha hahahahahahaha yeah right. Maybe with mid cycle refresh. Maybe.

I don't really understand the rear defroster. I've been driving trucks forever and have never needed such a thing. I mean, mine has it as it was part of the package, but I feel it was an expense that wasn't needed.

They like all companies will continue to work on the worthless wireless charging. Then I agree with above on just adding conv options. Nothing major will change or be added. Swap in and out colors and wheel design.

I will have to say ... subscription services will start to show up. Just like some of the other manufacturers are doing for heated seats, and extra accessories. They will just load up the trucks and turn off the features they want you to pay for.

I will also predict that someone in this forum will figure out how to hack it in a years time. And make us all pay for the hack, I mean programing, instead of paying Toyota.

That didn't go over well and most have all back tracked and ARE NOT charging for those options. Not going to happen at least for actual features in the car like heated seats.

I don't think the rear roll down is possible. There may not be enough depth below for the glass to retract into. This could potentially eat into rear legroom. If it isn't on the 24 I wouldn't expect it to be on any later 4G.

I love the idea of the rear window rolling down, that would be great!

This is the weirdest feature. I guess if you have a prosthetic or you think pressing a brake pedal is too hard, but this hold thing is something I've never needed, wanted or even thought would be a solution to a problem.

Raised garden bed on the roof would be more functional to me than brake hold. And I don't like gardening.

What am I missing with brake hold? Serious question.

My X5 had it, at first I thought it was silly until I started using it at drive throughs and such, then it was awesome. Is it difficult to hold your foot on the brake, no, is it far more comfortable to let off the brake? Yes.

Sooo, I too wondered about this. However, we were having some road construction for a while and would be stopped for a while. Rural road, so traffic could be hit or miss. I did not want to put it in park which would turn off the brake lights making people think traffic was still going or thinking I was going to move and get rear ended. Brake hold keeps the brake lights on. Sounds really stupid for my use, but it worked :notsure:

Also, even automatics on steep, steep hills can roll back. I can see this as a feature as well as the brakes do not release till you give it throttle.

I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to this stuff, but the truck has some sort of brake hold feature already. Is this different than what's already on it? I don't know if it's included on every trim or not. But there's a brake hold flipper in front of the parking brake button on mine.

Well I was part of a Toyota Development survey back in 2022 for ideas on the new gen 4 truck. Had to sign a non-disclosure form that held my tongue until the new truck was on the market. This is one of their ideas that was pitched heavily! And by heavily, I mean every option package was related to what you would spend on this package, to get options under their control or lock. I flat out denied any package combo that did this. In the end if I remember correctly, I only approved 1 package out of 30, because it had no subscription services.

So it may not be a thing they are doing now, but in the future don't be surprised! I think as long as we keep putting flack back up about it, and just say no, we may win. Time will tell.
